12:30PM LUNCH Ballroom A,B,CFEATURED SPEAKER: Honorable Paula Rosales – Judge Elect for Dallas County Court At Law #4

An accomplished attorney with judicial experience, Paula Rosales has been a vocal and effective fighter to level theplaying field in our court system to protect the rights of all. As a human rights advisor for the US State Department,Paula trained prosecutors, state officials and law enforcement investigating and prosecuting human rights violations.

Standing up for voting rights, Paula chaired the Dallas Redistricting Taskforce Legal Action Committee, providing nearly250 hours of pro bono legal service to file a counter-request with the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice.As an Assistant District Attorney, she fought for justice for victims of crime on a broad range of cases before various trialand appellate courts. And as the Presiding Judge for the City of Dallas Municipal Courts, Paula Rosales reformed courtprocedures for defendants with mental health issues and spearheaded the Fresh Start Docket, a multi-organizational effort to fill-in identified gaps in our community’s justice system.

In private practice, as an attorney for Miller Weisbrod LLP, and in the community Paula has continued fighting to ensureeveryone has a voice. Paula has been on the ground registering hundreds of voters with Southwest Voter RegistrationEducation Project, coached high schools in mock trials at DISD’s Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership High School,and co-founded the legal rights seminar, Conozcan Sus Derechos, sponsored by the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association.
