    'l'he bulk of the enemy force !lOW in the Division sector appearspresently'to be located in the S I E P ~ A MADRE MTNS or alocg the t rai lsleading into i ts foothills. This force is estimated to have a . 's t r e ~ s t h o t 8,000 to 1 0 ~ O O O of whom approximately 3000 are combatand service troops of the lQ3d Division. The remaining 5-7000 are

~ s c e l l a n e o u s Army and Navy service troops..The combat efficiency of t h ~ service troops, highly heteroscncouslacking training and weapons, was always low. Before Blue 'occupationof theValley and the, defeat. and withdrawal of ,0rganizQd combat units, these service troops were useful to a limited extent as replacementsbut can be considered negligible now that they are disorganized andforced to concentrate their energies upon their existence and sincethere is no organized framework of combat troops to which they canadhere. Those elements of the 103d Div which have apparently w i t h d ~ a w ntowards the mountains atter limited contact with Blue forces'may haveretained, to some degree, their organization and weapons, and whilescarcely disposed to attack or capable of offensive action could conceivably orter'further resistance. Such likelihood, however, constantly diminishes as time passes and the problem of living and the ravages01 disease increase
