The most important th ing to do is seek medical attent ion for anyone in jured and stay at the scene in a safe locat ion whi le contact ing the pol ice. There are several steps you can take at the scene that can help to establ ish fault . 1 . Document the Accident Take photographs of the auto accident scene, vehic le damage and any other important informat ion that may be relevant to how the accident occurred. 2. Exchange Information Obtain the insurance informat ion of any dr ivers involved and provide yours. Typical ly, the off icer invest igat ing the car accident wi l l provide you with a dr iver exchange form l ist ing al l the relevant informat ion; name, address, insurance informat ion, etc. 3. Seek Medical Treatment If you feel any k ind of discomfort i t is extremely important that you seek medical attent ion with in the f irst 24 hours and before f i l ing an insurance c la im.

4. Obtain Copy of Pol ice Report Obtain and review a copy of the pol ice accident report and ensure i t is an accurate descr ipt ion of the auto accident. If the pol ice report is not ready, you can st i l l f i le a c la im by contact ing your insurance company and the at fault dr iver ’s insurance company to begin the c la im process. 5.
