AAAG Members Bring Home Honors
On February 9, 2013 AAAG members received Black Engineer of the Year awards (BEYA) in Washington DC. Honorees were John Hines, (retired), Aisha Bowe, Kenneth Freeman, Ray Gilstrap, Kevin Jones, Gilena Monroe, Dr. Barbara Miller and Dr. Ousmane Diallo.

On January 16, 2013, the Ames African American Advisory group along with the Ames Community, fellow advisory groups and Special guest Rev. Sheila Robinson, Samuel L. Brown and Hon. Shelyna V. Brown celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. King in a panel discussion on how Dr. King influenced their lives as well as in their chosen careers.

On January 21, 2013 AAAG members : Dolores Beasley, Beverly Davis & Rose King witness history as they watched the swearing in of the 44 th President Barack H. Obama held at the Nations' Capitol.

On February 20, 2013 the AAAG along with the Ames Community Reenacted the “March on Washington” and the signing of “The Emancipation Proclamation”

Ames AAAG visit Lockheed MartinFor Black History Month
On February 26 AAAG members, Rose King, Denise Snow, Jeannie Caldwell, Margaret Kirksey, Christine Munroe, Beverly Davis, and LaVonda Atkinson joined AAAMIN, Speed and DCMA in celebrating Black History with veterans of the Civil rights Movement and March on Washington. They also belong to an organization called The Bay Area Veterans of the Civil Rights Movement (BAVCRM).
