K PC is the state corporation mandated to transport petroleum products in an efficient, safe, reliable and least cost manner. Over the years, KPC has fulfilled this mandate successfully, and has emerged as a consistently profitable parastatal, a regular contributor to the Exchequer through taxes and dividends, and a critical component of the petroleum industry accounting for trans- porting 75% of all petroleum products within Kenya as well as a substantial proportion of the regional petroleum needs in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan and Eastern DRC. In 2014- 15, KPC turned over Kshs 21 billion, had pre-tax profits of Kshs 10 billion and paid Kshs 6 billion in taxes as well as Kshs 300 million in dividends with the bulk of profits being ploughed back into ongo- ing capital projects, which ultimately will cost Kshs 60 billion. Over the last few years, the regional economic landscape has changed both as a result of strong growth but also due to the discoveries of substantial oil & gas reserves. Having taken note of these developments, last year KPC’s Board mandated a major re- view of the company’s business and role with a view to ensuring we remained at the heart of the oil & gas industry in Kenya and re- gionally, and also to position Kenya as the hub of this sector in the region. This culminated in the development and adoption of ‘Vision 2025’, an ambitious plan designed to transform KPC into ‘Africa’s Premier Oil & Gas Company’. Vision 2025 has the following pillars: Business Leadership – Winning the market in Kenya. Geographic Expansion – Leadership in the greater Eastern Africa. People – High performance culture among all our staff. Systems and Processes – Best in the world. Image and Reputation – Amazing relationships with all our stakeholders. As a strategic and commercial parastatal, KPC has also committed itself to achieving Kshs 150 billion in sales and Kshs 80 billion in pre-tax profits by 2025. We will achieve these financial goals. In order to meet the ambitions contained in Vision 2025, the Board mandated the creation of an Executive Committee (EXCO) to as- sist the Managing Director in providing strategic and operational direction to KPC. The Board’s direction was that the search for EXCO members be far ranging, targeting the ‘Best and Brightest’ in Kenya and among the Diaspora. Therefore, it gives me great pleasure to- day to unveil and welcome to KPC the six General Managers who, together with the Managing Director, will form KPC’s EXCO. This team does indeed constitute Kenya’s best, and we are particularly pleased that we have been able to attract US-based talent, who have worked in the world’s most advanced oil & gas industry. The Board, Management, Staff and all Kenyans have great expectations of the EXCO. Together we will succeed.
