The formation of Organization of African Union clearly captures the struggle. The post independent Africa is widely covered. Not so bright especially with civil wars like Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Sudan to some which have simply refused to die like Somali.

Our archive has both the celebrated and not-so celebrated personalities ranging from Nelson Mandela, Idi Amin, Haille Selassie, Jomo Kenyatta, Kwame Nkrumah, Kenneth Kaunda, Robert Mugabe and Julius Nyerere and many more.

It boasts classic stills and footage of the greatest sports events including the old classic safari rally, rugby, and athletics among others.

Africa is rich in scenery and wildlife well represented in our vault. From the big animals to ants, from the deep Congo forest to the cool waters of the Nile river the archive explores how Africa looked both fifty years ago, and the present.
