Section 2112
1 of 2
PART 1 - GENERAL
A. Aerial crossings are allowed for potable water mains and reclaimed water mains.B.
Pipe material shall be flanged joint ductile iron.
C. Refer to applicable water and reclaimed water main design standards.PART 2 - LOCATION
A. Mains shall be located within dedicated rights-of-way or utility easements.1. Right-of-way
When installed in rights-of-way, mains shall maintain a consistent alignment with
respect to the centerline of the road. In residential developments, mains should be
installed on the north and west side of the right-of-ways. Exceptions shall be
considered on a case-by-case basis. In all cases, mains shall be installed along one
side of the road, with crossings kept to a minimum.2. Easements
If piping is constructed within an easement, the centerline of the pipe shall be
located within two feet of the centerline of the easement.
a. Adjacent to right-of-way minimum 20 feet; orb. Not adjacent to right-of-way minimum 30 feet;
PART 3 - DESIGN BASIS
A. It shall be the responsibility of the DEVELOPER to obtain all applicable regulatorypermits. When the aerial crossing is accomplished by attachment to a bridge or drainage
structure, the DEVELOPER shall meet all requirements of the agencies that own or havejurisdiction over such structures.

Signed and sealed calculations and design data are to be submitted by the ENGINEER
for approval.
C. Flexible joints shall be designed by the ENGINEER to address expansion andcontraction of the pipe. Flexible joints shall be provided between the aerial and buried
sections of the pipe. Calculations and design data are to be submitted by the design
