MESSAGE FROM OUR MAIN SPONSOR
All of us at NorthLink Ferries are pleased to support the 2018 Aberdeen Christmas Classic. As operators of the Northern Isles services and a key player in transporting livestock from both Orkney and Shetland into Thainstone, the North East and further afield, we believe firmly that our credentials as a trusted partner to the agricultural sector are recognised as being essential and necessary components for the success of the industry. We have and will continue to ensure that a truly modern, effective and timely sea transport of stock is available to our customers. The opportunity for us to support this, the 26th Anniversary Show is a privilege and a responsibility which we take seriously. My colleagues and I will be really pleased if you take the time to come and speak with us, renew old acquaintances or make new, either in the ring, at our stand or out and about here in the excellent surroundings of the Thainstone Centre. Over the course of last year, we have received some visits to our lairage and freight handling facilities at Jamieson’s Quay in Aberdeen Harbour. If you are involved with a Young Farmers or other community groups, then do let us know if we can help at all in continuing to foster relationships between the Northern Isles and the North East. Our livestock shipments are handled by the freight team, based in Stromness, Orkney, where Kris Bevan our Freight Manager, supported by Ken, Alex and Darryl and our Livestock handling teams at Lerwick, Kirkwall Hatston and Aberdeen remain focused on providing a responsive service to the industry. Our teams liaise closely with the Mart, Haulier and Animal Welfare Officer, and since July 2012 have managed the successful transit of nearly 900,000 sheep and over 160,000 cattle entrusted to us, taking pride and care in each safely delivered load, providing value to both consignee and recipient and reflecting the time, effort and care taken at all stages of the production cycle. We hope you all enjoy your time at this 26th Anniversary Classic and we look forward to meeting with you over the next two days. Stuart Garrett Managing Director NorthLink Ferries
