10 years of experience of which at least 5 years should be at the Senior level comparable to that of an Assistant Professor in Post Graduate teaching and / or experience in Research at the University/National level Institutions including experience of guiding research scholars at Doctoral level.

Ph.D. Degree with first class at Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree level in the appropriate branch of Engineering/ Technology.
3 years of experience in Teaching/ Industry/ Research at the level of Lecturer / or equivalent
Candidates from Industry / Profession with first Class Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering / Technology
(OR) First class Master’s degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering / Tech. and professional research work which is significant and can be recognized as equivalent to Ph.D. degree and with 5 years experience would also be eligible.
4. Assistant Professor of Science and Humanities
Ph.D. in the relevant subject and good Academic record with at least 55% of marks or an equivalent CGPA at the Master’s Degree level

However the candidates having Ph.D. degree in the concerned subject are exempted from passing NET for PG level and UG level teaching. The candidates having M.Phil. 1. Publication in referred journals of repute (National / International) and participation in
Conference / Symposia/Seminars by way of presentation of papers;
2. Active involvement in development of educational programmes of Social and National
relevance including continuing Education Programmes/Short-term Refresher
Courses/Summer/Winter Schools;
3. Experience in the preparation of syllabi for academic courses, project reports, proposals for
development programmes etc.;
4. Active involvement/participation in consultancy work in Industry/Research and development
organization
5. Experience in the organization and administration of academic departments/laboratories at
University level;
6. Experience in the setting up of laboratories, fabrication of equipment, preparation of lecture
notes, laboratory instructional materials, computer aided instructions software; and
7. Membership in professional bodies of repute (National/International) relating to the field of
specialization.
Assistant Professor
1. Publication in journals of repute (National / International);
2. Participation by way of presenting papers in Conferences/Seminars/Symposia of
professional bodies;
3. Participation in Summer/Winter Schools/Institutes;
4. Experience in organizing and conducting laboratory classes/experiments and preparation of
course materials; and

specialization.

6. GENERAL INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS
1. The applicants should possess the essential and desirable qualifications and experience as
on 31.12.2008.
2. Completed applications along with a Demand Draft for Rs.500/- (Rs.250/- for Tamil Nadu
SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of the Registrar, Anna University Chennai and dated not
earlier than 24.05.2009 should be sent to the REGISTRAR, ANNA UNIVERSITY CHENNAI,
CHENNAI - 600 025 by Registered Post with Acknowledgement Due or by Courier Mail and
the envelope containing the application should be superscribed on the left hand top corner
as “Application for the post of ____________________”. The last date for the receipt of the
completed application is 15.06.2009 by 5.00 p.m. The University is not responsible for any
postal delay / loss in transit of the application. The completed application may also be
handed over in person at the Tapal Section in the Administrative Building of the University.

4. Applications from candidates who are employed will be considered only if forwarded through
proper channel or a “No Objection Certificate” from the employer is produced at the time of
interview.
5. Candidates are required to forward their applications in the prescribed form, accompanied by
copies of degree certificate and other academic distinctions, transfer certificate from the
Institution last studied, reprints of publications, evidence of age, professional experience,
present position, and salary drawn.
6. Applications incomplete in any respect and those received after the due date will be rejected.
7. Applications from persons who do not possess the minimum prescribed qualification for the
post will be summarily rejected.
8. Interim correspondence in connection with the application will not be entertained.
9. Appointment on deputation basis will not be considered under any circumstances.

10. In case, the number of applications received is 5 times more than the number of vacancies,
a test will be conducted, to shortlist the candidates.
11. Applicants should be prepared to come for a test and / interview at Chennai at their own
cost.
12. Requests for change of date of test / interview will not be considered.
13. Candidates will be asked to give a short lecture as a part of interview in order to judge the
communication skills and presentation capabilities.
14. The decision of the Syndicate on the recommendation of the Selection Committee shall be
final and no appeal or correspondence shall be entertained in this regard.
15. If the interview for any post notified above could not be conducted by the University for any
reasons, the cost of application shall be refunded to the concerned candidate.
