REMOTE TEACHING SESSION: 10.30am – 11.30am daily
Grade 1 students will receive a 1 hour face to face remote teaching session with their teacher each day. These sessions will be run
using Webex and will focus on Reading, Writing, Maths or Inquiry.
The link to your child’s Webex meeting is listed in the table below. Instructions on how to access your child’s Webex meeting are
available on Sentral.
Advice for accessing your child’s Webex meeting:
Please log on 5 minutes before the start time.
Ask your child to organise the resources they will need prior to the start time.
When signing in, please use your child’s name as this will be the name displayed to their teacher during the meeting.
If you have any questions or you are not able to access the Webex meeting, please refer to the instructions available on Sentral

Information reports aren’t always just about animals. They can be about places, people or things too. For example:

How many items can you recycle?
To celebrate Science Week and to learn about taking care of the environment, we want you to make a tally of the items you and your family recycle for the day.
1. Write down these items. o Plastic o Bottles o Cans

2. Use tally marks to record the items that you put in the recycling bin for the day.
3. Count the tally marks and write the number you have counted next to them to show the total.

1. Complete the Seesaw activity where you sort words into person, place, thing, or animal.
2. Pick a picture storybook that you have at home. Write down 10 nouns you find in the book.
Challenge: Write a sentence about whether this book is fiction or non-fiction. How do you know?
Does this mean the author’s purpose is to persuade, inform or entertain?
You can record yourself on Seesaw answering the questions or take a photo to upload on Seesaw.
Spelling activities
Choose one or more spelling activities to complete using your list of spelling words.
Scribble spelling
Draw a big scribble. Write each focus word as many times as you can in a part of the scribble.
Silly sentence
Write your spelling words in a sentence to create a silly sentence. Underline your spelling words.
Tic Tac Toe
Draw a grid and then take turns to write your focus words. First player to get 3 in a row wins.
Playdough
Use playdough to make your focus words.

CODEBREAKER
You can play codebreaker with 2 digit numbers or 3 digit numbers.
How to play:
1. One player is the codemaker. They write down a secret 2 digit or 3 digit number.
2. The other player(s) take turns trying to crack the code and guess the secret number.
For example, the first player might guess:
2 tens and 4 ones.
3. After each turn, the codemaker gives the other player(s) feedback.
How many turns did it take to crack the code?
