Why Advertising was Developed
•The mass production and the lowering of prices
-on consumer goods meant that more items were available to more people than ever before along with new transportation makes it easier.
•Advertising a product changed, from announcing the existence of a produce, to persuading the public they truly needed and deserved to own it for themselves.
•Advertising helped build new companies and marketing chains.
• Radio advertising• Billboard advertising • Catalogue• Companies sponsor celebrities• Everyday people promoting

Radio advertising• New radio stations opened almost every
week• Averts and songs in radio programs were
widely used to praise products• The government made no attempt to
regulate radio advertising• The public was bombarded with
information encouraging them to buy new consumer goods.
• The buying of goods or services by mail delivery: “home-shopping”
• A publication containing a list of general merchandise from a company

1925 catalogue featuring the latest men's suits.
• Contract that allows the buyer to hire the goods for a monthly rent
• Customers who could not afford the original price can now pay off by months
