Introduction:Adventure Trekking Camping Course is a regular event of Mystic Voyage. This course offers a unique opportunity to discover the wilderness of North Bengal with higher degree of adventure. It develops self confidence and firsthand experience to understand our ecology & environment. During the camping days the participants will have to make their own shelter & cook food. They will be taught the technique of camp craft, art of trekking, nature study, adventure planning, survival techniques, etc. All the participants will be awarded with certificate on completion of the course successfully.

The Route: Phaparkheti-Lakethang-Lilakha-Doley Camp in Neora Valley National ParkEach year the route of the course is either less known or lesser explored in adventurous terrain. This year the lush green pristine forest route will offer a unique opportunity for the higher degree of Adventure, Nature Study, and Bird Watching & Camping Activities.The area is under Kalimpong Forest Division & Neora Valley National Park in the district of Darjeeling. This wild route ranging around between 3000ft to 7000ft is one of the ‘hotspot’ of biodiversity map.

Duration: From 25th February to 1st March 2015 (4nights & 5days).The team will start from New Mal Junction on 25 th February at 09.30hr and will return to New Mal Junction on 1st March at 16.30hr.

The course is oriented on the following subjects: Shelter, Fire, Survival, Outdoor manners and other Camp craft. Plants and wild life study, Bird Watching, Trekking manners & Track sign, Tyrolean Traverse and other rope work. Outdoor planning, food planning, equipments/utensil, dress planning, budget making etc. Campfire / Cultural activities.

Necessary training, knowledge will be impacted by a team of experts, well known for their knowledge, skill & experience in their respective fields.

Eligibility of Participation:Any boy or girl within the age of 15 to 50 yrs having previous experience in mountaineering, trekking, camping or any other allied adventure activities can apply for participation.As the course will have a fixed number of participants, the selection of eligible candidates will be made on first cum-first serve basis.

Fees:Intending participants must register his/her name in duly filled application form with Rs. 3050.00 (Three thousand and Fifty Rupees) as registration fee.This includes National Park entry fee charges, others administrative charges, transportation from New Mal Junction to NVNP & back, one Breakfast & Tea, one Lunch, one Tiffin en route & Dinner on campfire and other stationery/organizational expenditure.

Food:The food stuff & other items during the course days will be borne by the participants on their own cost. Before reporting at New Mal Junction all the participants must bring the food items of 4 breakfast, 4 lunch (including pack lunch), 4 evening tiffin & 4 dinner as well as tea coffee & trek food.The cost of food stuff & other items during the course days will be borne by the participants. Please note that the cost of food stuff should not exceed beyond Rs.500.00. other than food items, all participants must bring the following items:

Shelter:10’x12’ Polythene sheet -1pc. (Except transparent, White & Black Colour) / 6’x8’ Polythene sheet- 1pc. as ground sheet / Jute Thread (Sutli)- 5balls / Plastic Thread (Sutli)- 5balls / Big safety pin 6nos. / Cotton rope- 6 to 8mm diameter - 5mts. / 1roll Brown Gum Tape- 2’ wide.

Bedding:Rucksack, Sleeping Bag, Air pillow (if necessary), mattress -8/10mm thickness.

Cooking Materials:Messtin / Big Lunch plate (Steel) / Big Coffee Mug / Spoon / 1set (2 nos.) Dekchi- 3ltr. with lid / 1 big spoon (Hata) / Small Knife for kitchen / 1 Big Knife for camping (preferred- Khukri or Dagger) / Cloth duster.

Dress Material:Jeans/Cotton Pant/Cargo Pant- 2nos. / Cotton Shirts- 2nos. / Woollen Cap / Sun Cap / Folding Umbrella or Poncho / Good quality outdoor shoe with extra laces / 3pcs. Cotton socks / Sleeper with strap (Like Kito Chappal) / Heavy Pullover or Fleece Jacket / Wind Cheater / Handkerchiefs- 3pcs. / Gamcha or Towel / Undergarments (as required).

Other Materials:Note book / Pen / Pencil / Torch with extra bulb & battery (preferred LED) / Personal toilet kit / Insect repellent / Personal medicine & first aid / Needle & thread / Candle- 6Pcs. / Match box- 2nos. / Gas lighter / Assorted size poly bag- 200gms / Rubber band / Old News paper- 5set / Toilet paper roll / Whistle / Small Mirror / Sun cream / Small Vaseline cream tube. All the above mentioned items are most important and necessary for better camping.

Optional Articles:Survival or Emergency kit / G.P.S. / Compass / Binocular / Camera / Thermometer (max-min) / Magnifying Glass / Fire Starter / Portable musical instrument.

*** Please note that this course will be ‘Survival Type’. The participants from first night to last night will stay in their self made shelter and will have to cook their own food.
