Talk 1: Battle Born

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.(Psalm 150:6)

When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!Peace in heaven and glory in the highest! Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, Teacher, rebuke your disciples!"I tell you,he replied,if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.(Luke 19:37-40)

I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak His praises. (Psalm 34:1)

Define WORSHIP.

Glorifying God means to acknowledge His greatness and give Him honor by praising and worshiping Him.

The chief purpose of man is to glorify God.

God made us so we can enjoy His love. And when we do, we cannot help loving Him back-- which is the definition of worship.

Name some ways that we can worship the Lord: reading the Bible, praying, helping others, singing praises, obeying our parents, etc. Shine a Light

When we glorify God with our lives, we shine a light for him for the rest of the world to see.

Charades

The Aim: To guess words or phrases correctly before time runs out by observing the acts of a teacher/kid.

Talk 3: Victory VergeAll the men of Judah, with their wives and children and little ones, stood there before theLord. Then the Spiritof theLordcame on Jahaziel son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah,a Levite and descendant of Asaph, as he stood in the assembly. He said: Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what theLordsays to you: Do not be afraid or discouragedbecause of this vast army. For the battleis not yours, but Gods.Tomorrowmarch down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel. You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and seethe deliverance theLordwill give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face themtomorrow, and theLordwill be with you."Jehoshaphat bowed downwith his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before theLord. Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised theLord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faithin theLordyour God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful. After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to theLordand to praise him for the splendor of his holinessas they went out at the head of the army, saying:Give thanks to theLordfor his love endures forever. As they began to sing and praise, theLordset ambushesagainst the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated. The Ammonitesand Moabites rose up against the men from Mount Seirto destroy and annihilate them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another. When the men of Judah came to the place that overlooks the desert and looked toward the vast army, they saw only dead bodies lying on the ground; no one had escaped. (2 Chronicles 20:13-24)Praise is the key that unlocks Gods power. Have you ever experienced how worship opened your life to more blessings? WE WORSHIP GOD BECAUSE: HE CHANGES US FROM THE INSIDE OUT

How happy are those who can live in your house, always singing your praises.

Psalm 84: 4 NLT

When we worship God, He changes us from the inside out. One way of worshipping God is through adoration. This is just a big word for telling God how great He is. When we tell God how great He is we forget about ourselves and all the different things that bother us.

Quote Psalm 84:4. This verse is in the book of Psalms (which means book of songs) and it tells us that the people who sing to God and tell Him how great He is, are happy people.

Ask the kids about things that make them sad or angry. Find out actual things or situations that may upset or hurt them. Let them know that when they sing to God, when we tell God how great He is, when we allow God to pour Himself and who He is into us, we begin to change. Our feelings dont hurt as much and being mad doesnt seem as important or as big of a deal. All the problems arent gone, but worshipping Him helps us remember that God is always with us and He is changing us from the inside out.

Big Day: The Armor of GodFinally, be strong in the Lordand in his mighty power.Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devils schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powersof this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God,so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.Take the helmet of salvationand the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:10-17)

In your spiritual battle, what weapons do you need the most?

Discuss that in our battle (hardships identify specific situations like preparing for exams, bullying etc.), we are together in the army with God. We are His soldiers and as soldiers we need spiritual weapons in order to win the battle.

Game:Battling Sin

Children have fun removing sin from their side of the battlefield.TOPICS:

Armor of God, Sin, Stand Firm, Temptation

MATERIALS:

Paper Towel Rolls, Colored Markers, Duct Tape, Masking Tape, Small Balls (Styrofoam or ping pong)

DURATION:

Approximately 15 minutes

PREPARATION:

Use duct tape to secure two paper towel rolls together (end to end) to make a "sword." Or you can use empty wrapping paper rolls by themselves. You need one "sword" for each child. Use masking tape to make a line down the middle of the room. This line will separate the floor into two battlefields, one for each team. Also, use masking tape to mark off a home base corner for each team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Form two teams. Give each child a "sword" made out of the paper towel rolls. Allow several minutes for the kids to decorate their swords using the colored markers.

Next, explain how the Bible is our sword. Have the children call out some sins or temptations they face each day. For example, stealing, cussing, being a bully, disobeying parents, etc. As they do, throw the small balls onto the floor, making sure the balls are on both sides of the battlefield.

Give the following rules of the game: The object is to move any "sin balls" from your side of the battlefield to the other team's side. You must stand at home base in the "READY" position until you hear the word, "GO!" You must stay on your side of the battlefield and not cross the centerline. You must use only your sword to move the sin balls to the other side. You must stop when the leader calls out, "STOP!" You must use your sword wisely or it may break in half. After saying, "GO," give the children a few minutes then yell "STOP!"Count the number of "sin balls" on each side and pronounce the winning team of that round. Then have everyone return to the "READY" position, and play another round.

WHAT YOU WILL SAY:

This game shows us how sin attacks. Sin is always around us. We are faced with temptation every day. They never seem to go away. We can combat these evil things when we use our swords wisely. But what good is a dull sword? We must keep our swords sharp to be ready for battle.

How do we keep our swords sharp? (To keep our swords sharp we need to read our Bible and let the Word of God become part of our lives.)

Note: This is just a teaching guide. If you have any ideas or suggestions, feel free to modify or change anything on the plan. Thank you.
