NANODENTISTRY A FUTURISTIC APPROACH
Nanotechnology is the study of manipulating matter on an atomic
& molecular scale.
Extending this technology into dentistry thereby makes
nanodentistry an emerging field with
significant potential to field new generation of clinical tools,
materials & devices for oral healthcare.
Nano dentistry is said to be the future of dentistry where all
procedures are to be performed using
nano robots that may become a replacement to the present day
dental assistants, technicians &
hygienists. In short it brings forth a new era of local
anaesthesias, dentifrice (tooth paste), better
modalities in the management of Gum problems, dental caries,
tooth hypersensitivity & oral cancer
by the usage of morphological, biophysical & biochemical
properties of the oral cavity. The diagnosis
of the associated problems will become easier due to smaller
diagnostic machinery & nano devices
with ultimate correctness in the results within shortest span of
time. It also promises to reduce the
span of cosmetic procedures with faster healing & improved
aesthetics. The painful procedures,
mortality & morbidity rates thus associated will be reduced
spontaneously in the future. With such
advanced technology, any disease can be treated at any stage
with great efficacy.
This is going to be true soon .Manufacturing of smaller
machineries & microscopic instruments viz.
nano machines, nano robots & nano devices will become one of
the top most lucrative business in
the future.

OZONE THERAPY-A WONDER DRUG IN DENTISTRY
With the advance in technology in the modern would, the
treatment modalities in dentistry
are also changing from traditional & conventional
methodologies to advanced ones. The use
of ozone in dental practice takes dental care into the 21 st
century & sets the standards of a
modern pharmaceutical method to treat dental problems.
In the past few years, ozone therapy has been launched as a new
method for treating dental
caries that acts by reducing & destroying the cariogenic
bacteria which is prime cause of
caries. They possibly arrest the progress of the lesion &
allow re-mineralization to occur
thereby reducing the fear & anxiety of the patients
associated with drilling & filling that
cause considerable pain. Numerous ongoing studies & trials
conducted internationally
provide evidence to it. Though some of the major researches are
still on trial stage &
awaiting positive outcome yet many private dental hospitals in
UK, USA and Europe have
already started the usage of this futuristic approach in the
field of oral health. The prime
goal of ozone therapy is elimination of pathogens, increased
circulation, immune activation,
maintaining a friendly bacterial flora in oral cavity &
stimulation of humeral anti-oxidant
system.
In dentistry, ozone has got its role in various dental treatment
procedures viz. Root canal
treatment, desensitization of sensitive teeth, bleaching of
discolored teeth, minor soft tissue
pathogenesis, non-healing / infected wounds & maintainance
of oral hygiene. Hence for the
patients where their dental practitioners have chosen to invest
in a new technology, the
