For those of us who have been doing this for years, we have

seen this External Review visit move from “paper-full” to almost “paper-less”.

It is vital we document our work with effective and mod-ern platforms.

Trained observers spend at least 20 minutes in all or nearly every class-room in the school and record their observations on a standardized re-

porting template. Data are then uploaded and stored by Ad-vancED. The eleot provides structured and quantifiable data on the extent to which learners are engaged in activi-ties and/or demonstrate knowledge, attitudes and/or

dispositions that are conducive to effective learning. The tool provides an aggregate picture for an entire school.

In essence, eleot measures the extent to which there is observ-able evidence (or no evidence) that students are engaged in certain activities or demon-strate certain knowledge, atti-tudes and/or dispositions in a classroom during a defined period of time as measured on a four-point scale (1 being “not observed,”4 being “very evi-dent”). The seven eleot environ-

ments examined are:

Equitable Learning

High Expectations

Supportive Learning

Active Learning

Progress Monitoring and Feedback

Well-Managed Learning

Digital Learning
