Central Piedmont Community College, a multi-campus facility serving Mecklenburg County, has a new facility in Charlotteusing Integrated Systems Technology (IST) to train workers for new jobs that require setting up, operating, and maintaining avariety of high-tech manufacturing systems. The program includes both instructor-led classes and hands-on training in elec-tronics, hydraulics and pneumatics, piping systems, electrical sensors and basic mechanical devices.

York Technical CollegeA cooperative effort between York Technical

College, Okuma, Charmilles, and other manufacturing partners, the Institute forManufacturing Productivity (IMP) is a 20,000 square-foot training facility located on theYork Tech campus that trains local industry in identifying in-house manufacturing,processes and operational improvements. Manufactures that have been assisted by theIMP include General Motors, Harley Davidson, Ingersol-Rand, John Deer and Siemens.

York Technical College’s new 17,000 square-foot training center, called 3D SystemsUniversity, operates in partnership with 3D Systems Corporation to train customersfrom around the world in the use of the company’s innovative products, services andtechnologies. The training center also serves as a showcase for the digital manufac-turing technologies and as a place to demonstrate how 3D Systems’ technologies arechanging the world of manufacturing in almost every industry.

The North Carolina Motorsports and Automotive Research Center (NCMARC) supports the motorsports and automotive industries by pro-viding education, workforce training and research infrastructure in such areas as computational fluid dynamics, instrumentation development, dynamicanalyses and simulation.
