Flat ribbon cable requires more than sophisticated tooling, high qual-ity plastics, and the latest extrusion equipment. It also requires a variety of measurement devices to help us verify tightly-controlled ribbon dimensions and plastic thicknesses to meet the UL voltage requirements. Non-contact laser measurement of ribbon dimensions provides production operators and feedback systems with results hundreds of times per second. Also, as part of in-line testing proce-dure, we continuously apply high voltage to the cable during manu-facturing. This process allows us to better monitor the quality of the cable produced and ensure proper quality control.
Quality personnel look at the structure of the ribbon cable’s plastic web to ensure that wires can be separated by the customer. Our visual inspection system can detail the structure of the entire cross-section of a wide ribbon cable, allowing inspectors to see the product at great magnification where necessary.

With trained operators, the right equipment and sophisticated quality support, you can rest assured that Hitachi Cable will meet and exceed your flat cable needs.
