    HISTORY:

The story goes that in the mid-seventeenth century a poor mulatto

painted the Christ crucified cloth wall Pachamilla within the midden,

an area where blacks were grouped Angolans living in absolute

    poverty.

The November 13, 1655, at 2:45 pm there was a terrible earthquake

in Lima and Callao, knocking down churches, mansions burying

    leaving thousands dead and homeless.

All walls of the guild collapsed except the weak adobe wall in which

the image of Jesus was painted. The image remained intact with no

    cracking.

semipaganos scandalized the political and religious authorities, the

Viceroy ordered the destruction of the image. When you climb a

ladder to clear painter, he began to feel tremors and chills and had

quickly, then explaining that when he stood before the image he

saw that he became more beautiful and the crown was turning

green; for that reason did not meet the order given. At the

insistence of the authorities off the picture, people expressed

disgust and began to protest with angry voices and threatening

attitudes that drove them off to the party. The order was revoked

and it was agreed that there veneration surrender to the powerful

    image.

The October 20, 1687 a tsunami destroyed the Callao and Lima and

knocked part of the chapel that had been built in honor of the

image of Christ. Feet leaving only the adobe wall with the image of

the Crucified Christ. This was admitted by the Church and its

    worship was consecrated.

OIL A copy of the image was made and was carried in procession

through the streets of Lima imploring the Crucified Christ to

appease the wrath of nature. From the time it was established that
