Make/Art: Sensory Tiles Thu., March 19, 4 p.m. - MO Your child will use process art to create a colorful sensory tile with fun, assorted materials and a vinyl record that they can display at home! For ages 5 - 12. STEM: Crash Test Dummy Thu., March 5, 4 p.m. - MO Build an electronic crash test dummy using plastic eggs, LEDs, and batteries. Test it out and build creations to protect the egg dummy. Don't let the dummy's light go out! For ages 7 - 12. Ukulele for Elementary School Age Children* Thu., March 26, 10:30 a.m. - PA The ukulele is a surprisingly easy instrument to learn f or children who know how to play as well as those who want to learn how to play the ukulele. If you have a uke, bring it along. A number of ukuleles will also be available for you if you are just looking to try it out. For ages 5 - 11. This program encourages emerging reading skills by engaging children with shapes, sounds, rhythm and rhyme in a playful environment. For ages 3+. Join us for Rocket Academy and learn all about space, rockets, and what it takes to be an astronaut. Discover how to identify which snakes are venomous, learn what snakes eat, find out where they live, and how they find their prey. You may even get a chance to touch them! For ages 3 - 12. Attendees will create two collages - one for the community art installation, and one to take home! Come learn some fun and simple embellishment techniques using fabric markers and hand embroidery stitches to add detail to your collage. For ages 12+. Create Together: Spring Maker in Residence Mon., March 30, 9 a.m. - MO Join Liz Kettle and Ruth Chandler from Textiles West as they piece together textile illustrations of the Pikes Peak region, made by community members from all across El Paso County. Second Thursday Craft: Equali-Teacup Candles* Thu., March 12, 2 p.m. - MO 2020 marks the 100 year anniversary of the Women's Suffrage Movement. We will be celebrating by making some punny candles in teacups! While you wait for your candle to finish, you can also enjoy the Women's Suffrage brooch-making craft. Spinning Group Thu., March 26, 1:30 p.m. - MO We welcome everyone who wants to spin or learn about spinning. There will be extra spinning wheels and fiber so drop-ins have the opportunity to give it a try. This is a fun way to get to know other spinners and all levels are welcome. You get separated from your guide and begin exploring the research facility. All of a sudden, the loudspeaker crackles to life and you realize you've only got one hour to escape the facility before you are stuck there indefinitely.
