LISTED BUILDINGS and CONSERVATION
Working on a range of projects, across sectors, I have gained extensive experience of working with Listed Buildings and within Conservation areas: Responsibilities have included working as a Historical Advisor and Planning Consultant, the preparation of Historical Impact Assessments, the surveying of architectural features and preparation of detailed drawings and schedules.
I have detailed knowledge of the conservation and refurbishment of historically valuable building fabric, specifying works to lead roofs, gutters and weatherings, window and door joinery, lime plaster and composite architectural features, flint walling and bungaroosh.
This experience is borne out in a number of hard won planning applications, notably for projects in Eaton Square and Chester Square, London and the First Base Day Centre, Brighton, involving considerable liaison with Local Planning Authorities, English Heritage and Landlords, such as Grosvenor Estate Belgravia.

RESIDENTIAL and REFURBISHMENT
I am passionate about domestic architecture and the beneficial effect that good design canhave on people’s lives. The place that you live, and increasingly work in, is critically important and is subject to a client’s greatest expectation. The development of a sound relationship with your client, a deep understanding of the way they use space and a sensitive approach to the detailing are vital to the successful delivery of a residential project – a home.
Phillimore Square
Working widely in this sector I have experience of a range of projects, from small jobs, with avalue of £50k, up to major projects with a Contract sum in excess of £14.8m. I have worked asProject Architect, on jobs up to £500,000, acting Project Architect and Contract Administrator on jobs up to £14,800,000, and from RIBA Work Stages A-L. I have extensive and invaluableexperience of working on site, culminating in an appointment as Site Architect, based on site 2-3days a week for two years, on a large, complex and sometimes difficult project.
I have a keen interest in beautiful detailing, whether it is architectural or interior finishes, especially the junction between materials: I was used consistently, at Camillin Denny Architects, to trouble-shoot projects, detailing anything from bespoke jambs, fitted joinery, lead roofing orwriting specifications; this has also been expressed through a broad experience of Interior Architecture, working closely with Interior Designers, leading Interiors projects and evenprocurement of materials and services through Level 8 Design, the Interior Design and residentialDevelopment arm of CDA.

COMMERCIAL and INDUSTRIAL
Fast paced and budget conscious, commercial architecture isboth challenging and rewarding, testing an architecturalteam to deliver a project that is tailored to very specific needs, enhances or creates a brand identity and that can be delivered on time and to a strict budget: Ricardo’s Project Victoria assembly line¹, Shoreham, an invited competition entry, illustrates the commercial need for the

Commercial architecture is a broad discipline with a massive range of project types, businesses and budgets. I have worked on a variety of projects from mixed use developments, like the listed Curzon Street cinema in London, to offices, restaurants and industrial units.
process or function of the building to act as architectural driver, defining the form as spatial enclosure and facilitator of services; while projects like the Raj Pavilion², an Indian restaurant in Brighton, are more focussed on creating an experience for the customer and brand image for the client, balanced against the need to maximise turnover and minimise disruption.

LEISURE and CULTURE
Camillin Denny has steadily built a relationship with Hilton and I was lucky enough to work on both the Double Tree hotel, Cambridge, and the luxurious Waldorf Astoria at Syon Park. Robust design, durable finishes, tight legislative control and brand standards combine with sumptuous finishes and bespoke joinery design to create signature looks for two very different hotels.
Other experience includes working as part of the detailed design team on the Tripoli Heritage Museum, Libya. Working in conjunction with Metropolitan Studio, the project involved the detailed design (to stage D+) of a museum complex, unified by a perforated metal canopy. Theproject is part of the Tripoli ‘Green Belt’ development and sits on a prestigious site adjacent to thenew People’s Congress building.
I have also worked on a variety of other hotel projects, including the refurbishment of the listedMeyrick Hotel, Galway; the proposed Eco-hotel and retreat in Ghat, Libya, part of the national Cultural Tourism programme, the ‘5 Oases Project’ led by OMA; and I have attended the Hotelympia exhibition as part of Camillin Denny Architect’s exhibition team.

EDUCATION and PUBLIC SECTOR
Experience of the education sector includes the £500m redevelopment of Al Fateh University in Tripoli, Libya. Invited to join a consortium by LCE architects, the Arts Faculty was undertaken as an‘out of hours’ office project open to volunteers within the Practice. I was involved in the scheduling of areas, development of spatial plans and the elevation designs. The success of theinitial design work led to a direct relationship with the University and Education Department and further commissions, including Maths and Statistics, Law, History, and Agriculture faculty buildings, as well as the campus fire station and university infrastructure.
Encouraged to develop work opportunities I pursued a number of competition entries, including a new multi-function auditorium at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, and proposed development of the Pestalozzi International Village, Sedlescombe. The development of competition entry tem-plates and image libraries was begun with these two projects and has grown into a significant part of Camillin Denny Architect’s mode of operation.

The former Irish Club is an 18,000sqm grade II* listed terraced house designed by Thomas Cubitt, as part of the Belgravia development. Constructed from 1827 andextensively remodelled in the 1890’s, 1914 and again in the 1980’s, I worked as part of a small team engaged toconvert the former club into a luxury single family dwelling for a private client.
Working from Stage C to Practical Completion the project was characterised by an attention to detail expressedthrough a mix of restorative techniques and clean contemporary design.
I was responsible for a number of areas during the detailed design stages, production of Tender andConstruction information and throughout Construction supporting and variously acting as Lead Consultant, sitearchitect and Interior Architect.
Working with an extended team of Consultants, Westminster Council, English Heritage and the MainContractor I gained valuable experience of stages C-L1: Development of the detailed design and integration of extensive services; Planning and listed building consents; The preparation of Production information; Coordination of Contractor Design Information and sub-contractor’s production information; Contract administration, including a weekly site presence to answer site queries, issuing of Architect’s Instructions, and the assessment of Extension of Time claims; The final Site Inspections and snagging.
