EASTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY College of Health Sciences Associate Degree Nursing HESI (A2) Nursing Assessment Exam Students applying for admission into the Associate Degree Nursing program are required to complete the Nursing Admission Assessment (A2) Exam to be eligible for program admission. This exam evaluates general knowledge in areas of Math, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Learning Styles and Grammar to assess each student’s strengths and areas needing development. To be eligible for program admission, students must receive a score of 75 or above in each category. Scores on this exam are included in the admission evaluation process as outlined in the Admission Scoring Rubric (available for review on the Associate Degree Nursing website: www.adn.eku.edu ). The A2 Exam is offered on the EKU Richmond campus. Students are encouraged to register as soon as possible as seats are limited. To register for the exam: 1. For A2 testing information/registration contact the HSLRC office at (859) 622-3576 or [email protected] 2. Students will pay for exam upon check in by: Credit/Debit card only. Please arrive at 10:30am in Rowlett 312. NO WEBSITE PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. (If you have paid prior, through the website, please contact the Nursing office so we may issue a refund.) 3. The A2 Exam is administered in the Health Sciences Learning Resource Center (HSLRC), located within the Rowlett building, room 312. In addition to the exam, students are encouraged to complete a Learner Profile consisting of 2 categories: Learning Style and Personality Profile for

Students applying for admission into the Associate Degree Nursing program are required to complete the Nursing Admission Assessment (A2) Exam to be eligible for program admission. This exam evaluates general knowledge in areas of Math, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Learning Styles and Grammar to assess each student’s strengths and areas needing development. In addition to the exam, students are encouraged to complete a Learner Profile consisting of 2 categories: Learning Style and Personality Profile for Learning. Testers who are absent or arrive late to the testing appointment will be asked to reschedule the exam.

4. Students who are denied admission the Nursing Program may retake the A2 Exam ONE additional time only.

Study Resources: An optional study resource is available to assist with test preparation: Evolve Reach Admission Assessment Exam Review. The most recent edition may be purchased from the EKU Bookstore. The study guide reviews general concepts and does NOT include specific questions/material on the exam. Test candidates should focus on concepts of Math, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary and Grammar. Alternately, study guides for standardized college readiness exams, such as ACT and SAT, may also be beneficial.
