DRDO –
Ministryof Defence – Govt. of India,
engaged in imparting technical education, in niche areas at PG
(M.Tech) & Ph. D levels over the last 60 years, in its various
forms &
capacities. The main focus of the institute is to evolve as an
innovative Unique Teaching & Research University to develop
indigenous contemporary defence related
technologies. The University is spread over 496 acres in scenic
beautiful location, overlooking Khadakwasla Lake, in Sahyadri
hills. The University has been awarded
various Education Excellence Awards. The University has well
equipped laboratories with latest equipments and simulation /
analysis software. The M. Tech
programmes are designed to include Course of Study,
Seminars, Project/Thesis, Practice School & Industry visit
through which a student may develop his / her
concepts and intellectual skills. Above all, the students is
encouraged to develop a capacity for free and objectives enquiry,
courage and integrity, awareness and
sensitivity to the needs and aspirations of society. The
emphasis is on practicals & use of software. The education
system is CBCS where teaching is done by well
qualified faculty drawn from DIAT and serving / retired
scientists & officers of DRDO, Services, ISRO, IITs, various
R&D and teaching institutes in India and abroad.
DIAT has MoUs with various Industries in India, Universities
& Establishments across the world. DIAT has an active Placement
Cell.
The uniqueness of DIAT is that fresh students have an
opportunity to interact with service officers who are doing their
M. Tech & Share their field experience
with them. The students have an opportunity to visit DRDO
laboratories & get opportunity to listen and interact with
scientists engaged in various disciplines carrying
out state of art, Research & Development.
DIAT announces admissions to the following M Tech programmes (2
years) for the academic year 2016 – 17, to eligible

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA & SELECTION PROCEDURES .
Qualification:- Candidates who are desirous to join the
above mentioned M. Tech Programmes in DIAT must have a Bachelor's
degree in
Engineering/Technology or a Master's degree in Science as
applicable to the programme@
with 55% aggregate marks/5.5 CGPA and valid GATE
score.
Age Limit: - Not more than 26 years as on 01 July 2016.
Relaxations as per GOI rules.
Admission to the M. Tech programme shall be made directly based
on GATE score. Candidates are required to submit separate
applications for each
specialization. Admission to a specialization shall be made
based on separate GATE discipline wise merit list. DIAT reserves
the right to offer the specialization
on given M Tech programme.
Candidates under non-MoD sponsored category
(DPSUs/Industry) will be admitted through his/her employer and
subject to meeting the additional conditions
specified below, through a separate selection committee
appointed specifically for the purpose. Such sponsored candidate
must be in service of the sponsoring
organization. The sponsoring organization must specifically
undertake to provide full salary to the candidate and to relieve
him/her to pursue the programme for its
full duration. Sponsored candidates are exempted from qualifying
GATE requirement and there is no age limit.

RESERVATION POLICY . DIAT follows the reservation policy of
Govt. of India as applicable to Higher Educational Institutions for
reservation of seats for SC, ST, OBC and PWD candidates.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE .
Scholarship Category students are eligible for applying for
Scholarship (Rs. 12,400/- per month) under DBT scheme of AICTE,
during the M. Tech Course, subject to
attendance. No financial support will be available from DIAT
(DU), Pune.
BOARDING / LODGING . Accommodation and mess facilities
are available in the POINTS Hostel on payment basis. However, due
to very limited rooms in POINTS Hostel, it may or may not
be possible to provide POINTS Hostel accommodation to all
the students. The present monthly charges towards boarding and
lodging is approximately Rs.7000/-
(subject to revision). A security deposit of Rs. 20,000/- would
need to be paid to Hostel office.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE . Interested candidates under
Scholarship Category should apply ONLINE only. The application fee
for each program (specialisation) is Rs 500/- for General
Category
and Rs. 250/- for women and reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/PWD)
candidates. The application fee can be paid online or by Demand
Draft drawn in favour of Vice
Chancellor, DIAT, payable at Pune. The application fee is
non-refundable
