ICT equipments availability PYP websites ICT curriculum Promoting Technology at school
School Vision Critical issue Ideal equipments recommendation New ICT equipments distribution (IT pilot
project) Survey result Staff professional development
ICT equipments availabilityThere are lots of ICT facilities available in our units: Computers: 127 computers and its peripheral
(some have printers and speakers) Equipments: 14 digital cameras, 14 laptops, 5
LCD, 5 handycam, 4 set of TV and DVD players, 3 CD compos, 9 flash disks, 4 cassette recorders, 1 digital microphones, 5 stopwatches, 1 wireless speakers, 2 megaphones.Besides the IT pilot projects we also need to consider the maintenance, the maximum usage and upgrading those technologies.
Some concerns
The computers are not maximally used to support teaching learning.
Sometimes computers have trouble during he use (teaching) and the service support should be available immediately.
Some computers have low technology esp. to show and to process multimedia files.
Some ICT equipments availability are not recorded and also not used effectively for teaching learning.
Some area/ teachers need more computers with latest technology.
possible actions we can do Create an ICT room to store all ICT equipments,
so they will be more organized. Make an ICT usage policy/ guideline for
teachers, so every single equipment can be used effectively and maximally.
More ICT support service staff who will be always available in every ICT trouble we have.
Upgrade some computers to have the common standard of ICT technology in every area of school.
Provide more ICT facilities for some area (library, performing arts, etc).
PYP website
We have updated the content of the PYP website with the latest news from school activities, calendars of events, pictures gallery, etc.
Some ideas for the websites: divided web pages for teachers, students and parents
and/or divided for each year level (PYP Playgroup-PYP 6) More interactive menus (web components) More downloadable content (sharing resources, lesson
plan, teaching documents, etc) More useful web links for teachers, parents and
students (beside intranet) communication tools between teachers (administrator)
and parents (e-mail, feedback notes, etc).
Some concerns and discussion What is the purpose of the website? Who are the
target audiences? Is it only informing, how about communicating/interacting? It will affect the information we put and also the features we build on our website.
There are still some discussion among the ICT team especially regarding with new ICT office roles and responsibilities therefore we can’t really maximize the use or the feature of the website without the help from ICT office staff.
We have difficulties in collecting information from teachers especially regarding with article management procedure.
Some possible solutions
The procedure to upload the content: for content management, coordinator will do overview of every interesting program/activity run at school, contact TL and TL or the assigned person will write the article and check it to the expat. Then it will go to principal for the last editing. Coordinator will publish it on the website.
Some best school websites are available for our reference and made using the seven criteria below: Design, Ease of use, Copywriting, Interactivity, Use of technology, Innovation, Content.
ICT curriculum
New ICT curriculum will be created soon The new ICT committee:
Specialist: Evi Playgroup: Kresna PYP A: Kezia PYP B: Theresia 1: Haris 2: Yassin 3: Ani 4: Janine 5: Helen 6: Paul
ICT committee role statementsICT committee will: Investigate the implementation of ICT in the
each unit. Develop the scope and sequence as
guideline for ICT learning. Prepare for on-going professional
development for teachers. Lead the ICT planning in each grade. Maintain constant use of ICT throughout the
year. Be role model as digital native teachers.
Our goals
Short term: Plan for ICT lesson with the previous curriculum
temporarily. Finish the new curriculum and scope and
sequences at the end of semester 1.Long term: Implement the new ICT curriculum in the
planning consistently. Maximize the ICT equipment usage in every area. Support other staff to develop the ICT skills. Constantly maintain the use of ICT in every
aspect.
Role of ICT in PYP
Making PYP Happen page 43: Can document the learning, making it available
to all parties. Can provide rapid feedback and reflection. Can provide opportunities to enhance authentic
learning. Can provide access to a broad range of sources
of information Can provide students with a range of tools to
store, organize and present their learning Encourages and allows for communication with
wide-ranging audience

ACTION
Every knowledge and skills that students have achieved should be applied.
At the end of every ICT unit, as far as possible teachers should consider to plan an action for students to use ICT for their life experiences.
An initiative from students are also expected by applying the ICT knowledge and skills in real life context.

ICT To review the ICT implementation in
our school To recognize the role of ICT in PYP To give recommendation of new
technology that teachers really need.
What’s next
We will divide staff into group to meet their individual need; later we called them as group of expertise.
We will set up time for ICT professional development training which based on the needs.
We will set up new curriculum/new system to meet the ICT needs in general.
