Additional Functionality for ETSOA
Applications for ETSO Authorisation (ETSOA) where the equipment provides additional functionality are handled by EASA as follows The ETSO functions are assessed as usual The additional non-ETSO functions are
accepted on a non interference basis at equipment level
The applicant must show that the non-ETSO functions do not interfere with the ETSO functions
The non-ETSO functions have to be addressed at aircraft level during the installation

Additional Functionality for ETSOA
The following wording is used on the ETSOA to highlight the fact that the equipment provides additional functionality
Additional Functionality as listed in the DDP is not covered by the above mentioned ETSO standard(s) and is accepted on a non-interference basis.

Examples for additional functionality
Honeywell TR-866B - VHF COM Transceiver ETSO-2C37e & -2C38e Extended frequency range capability for
military frequency band
Envirotainer RKNe1 ETSO-C90c Thermal insulated LD3 Air Cargo Container
(ULD) with an active heating/cooling system Additional certification requirements have been
taken from CS-25/FAR 25

Examples for additional functionality
Assessment of additional functions not done by EASA at equipment level, as no EASA equipment standards exists
EASA will not take e. g. Company Specifications covering the additional functionality for assessment on equipment level
The means to address this is via STC or amendment of the TC
Amendment of ETSO standard should be envisaged to incorporate needed functions for future use
