There are simple rules to complete an ADDITION problem whether it is adding two-digit numbers or six-digit numbers.
However, there are some common mistakes to avoid!
ADDITION

Line up the numbers involved NEATLY and CLEARLY by place value. Tip: use graph paper if you like!!
Common Mistake #1:
Forgetting to carry over by NOT writing it down.

Always write-down what you are carrying over rather than just doing it in your head.

There are simple rules to complete a SUBTRACTION problem whether it is adding two-digit numbers or six-digit numbers.

Do NOT flip-flop the bottom and top numbers—leave them in order.
Common Mistake #2:
Forgetting to reduce the number you borrow from.

Borrow a 10 from a number to the left when needed. Lower the number you are borrowing from by 1.
