    The Addiction Awareness Report

An Insider GuideTo Addiction and Recovery

Inside this report, I am going to explain to you how I have identified some commonalitiesamong humans who find themselves addicted to drugs and/or alcohol as well as helploved ones become more aware.

I am also going to share what I know .works right now - and what I know (in myhumble opinion) will work into the future, for those who find themselves addicted andknee deep in the early years of recovery.and for those of you trying to support thepeople you love.

How do I know whatworks for addictions right now.and will continue to work?

I have invested 20 years studying human psychology, and although this does not make mea psychologist. I have always been committed to lifelong learning in this field. Im goodat it.Itspart of my passion and my purpose.

I had the good fortune to work in the human resources field up until 2007. My workvaried from one on one, family, outreach and community work. Much of my workcentered on, improving family functioning and the quality of human relationships.

The bulk of my hours spent working was in Child Protection. I learned lots during thoseyears about human interaction and helping others. The job was very rewarding yetchallenging.

At the time of this writing, I have invested 9 years studying addiction, and the effects ofaddiction on the mind, body and spirit of us humans.

Prior to those years I invested 10 years as a hard core drinker. This is experienceand knowledge I didnt get from a bookmy friend. It serves me well.

So.by the time you finish reading this short report you will have an education in

Addiction Recovery. One that you will not find anywhere but hereand one that I paiddearly for.

You will also have enough information to say, that you have a good understanding ofaddictions and recovery if youre a family member or a friend of a person addicted toalcohol or drugs

Or can make an informed decision, that you may need a little hand holding, to get fromwhereyou are, to where you want to be.if you are addicted to drugs or alcohol.

    Lets begin.

    A Good Place to Start

Over the past 9years I have learned many things that I feel have been important to myrecovery.

For any new adventure we humans begin, we should have a goal in mind, some sense ofdirection, some understanding and awareness.

Its very important that any change of habits start with awareness.

No awareness? You will go through a lot of trial and error trying to understand. Even ifyou think you know

You may be an educated professor, a husband or wife, a partner, the children of, a nurse

or yes.even a doctor or health care professional.

I dont care how educatedhumans get, how many courses they take or seminarsthey attend.unless they are addicted to drugs and alcohol.they do notunderstand.

    Enough said!!

    Enough..

Why not learn from thisPicture This Story about a woman called Lucy.

Lucy is a 23 year old woman. Among a lot of other problemsshe also has a growingaddiction to alcohol; Lucycant stop drinkingwhen she starts..

    She doesnt want to stop

    She likes to get drunk

It makes her feel good, shes not worried about her weight, her not so perfect marriage, money, work, her family, her low self -esteem, her false sense of confidence .and all herimperfections as she remembers and perceives them to be..after she has a few.

Lucy begins drinking on the weekends and in a span of less than 10 years she is drinkingdailyand unheard of amount of alcohol. Lucy gets a DUI in 1999.Thank goodness noone gets hurtLucy doesnt drink and drive againBUT Lucy doesnt give up thedrink.not yetIts not time

Lucy is hurting all the people she loves and that love herLucy is a bitch..she hateseveryone and everything.she is fighting and arguing all the time.especially at home.

Lucy needs to leave her marriage and her children are caught in the middle of it all.

Lucygets involved in another relationship she hurts more people .Lucy quits her jobso she can drink full time.that will help the pain go away

Lucy is physically ill every day. Lucy hates everyone and everything. Lucy wants todieLucy has to drink a few drinks, vomit and then she is able to keep the next fewdrinks down in order for the alcohol to begin to work..and take away the Pain she callsher life..sounds awful eh? Lucy lives for this.

    The pain is worse now.

Its a vicious circle until Lucy is 34Then Lucy gets sober

Why would Lucy do this to herself? A smart, rational woman.with seeminglyeverything going for her.

    Maybe not

Well let me reword thatLucy is a smart woman, she knew.she just didnt want to faceit..you knowthereal stuffthe stuff that hurtslife..

Its called addiction and Lucy didnt get it.through all her education, offers of helpfrom loved ones, friends, family and even her children. She didnt get that she had aproblem until it was almost too late

Lucy didnt know how to deal with the pain of her childhood, her grandparents death, her marriage, the challenges of being a 20 year old wife, and mother of two beautifulchildren who deserved more..

No excuses or blame being laid here.its just the way it was..

...So at 34 years old, near dead, a very strained relationship with her children..especiallywith her oldest son.

Lucy goes to detox to get soberWell she gets dried out all right.and she also findsout that she is going to have child number three, at 34 .and 14 years after she gavebirth to child number 2. Lucy is in the worst health condition of her life.

Now Lucy is really scared. She has to save her life, try to repair the damage she has doneand give the child growing inside her a fighting chance..

Tall order for anyone..especially a drunk like Lucy...

That awareness I was talking about....

    Understanding Addictions

According to the dictionary, one definition of addiction is

compulsive physiological need for and use of a habit-forming substance (as heroin, nicotine, oralcohol) characterized by tolerance and by well-defined physiological symptoms uponwithdrawal

There are a few things I would like to share here..

When people think they understand addictions because they live with an alcoholic,They dont understand..

When people are educated and become doctors and lawyers and nurses and judges,They dont understand

Those who get it are those who have experience and the awareness,They understand.

For those of you who want the awareness here is what will help

    Addictions AwarenessStep One

Feel the pain and do it anyway. Keep it real..Right Now!

We humans over complicate thingswe need to make a decision to change the behaviorand Dont Deviate

I know that some will argue with me herethey say that people need willpower andhumans who are addicted lack it.they dont.

If you would like to debate this feel free to connect with me ([email protected]) Iwelcome your opinions .and I love to debate!

    Point taken?No?Email me then.

We all make decisions everydayWe have been brain washed into thinking its difficult to

stop drinking. I stopped after drinking after all those yearsOh and for the record.I was48 hours sober before I went to detox.

I was drinking a quart and a 2-4 of beer at day at the end of my drinking. The days mystomach would allow it..

So. Create a zero tolerance ban for yourself. Practice this for 30 days.new habitcreation.the romance is over.

    Step Two

Be honest and educate yourself. Find a program and a mentor to help you along the way. Iam not suggesting that you go to church or AA or any other Step groups.I am stronglysuggesting that you connect with another human being who knows where yourecoming from.its that simple

Why did you drink? Be honest. Write it down. Get some help for the things that kept youdrunk. See a Mental Health worker, Doctor, Psychologist for some things if necessary. Seea recovering alcoholic/drug addict for the addictions stuff though. You can do this.

Just feel the pain..its ok, and you will be ok.

Back to Lucyshe was dealing with issues back in her childhood when she was 34.Andits all worked out for her. Lucy does not have a perfect life.she doesnt want one!

You can do this. Find someone you can confide in. They cannot fix your problems butsomething magical happens when you let go of it and verbalize it.

You will be able to help others through all that you deal with now. So get to itpeople arewaiting for your help! Lets not be selfish here Keep a journal and refer to it often, it willserve you and others well.

    Step Three

This is the step some think is a little out thereits ok your sentiment is shared by a lotof folks.

Ill just say this briefly and then Ill let you get on with whatever keeps you busy.I have

studied human beings for many years. I love to watch and analyze people. (In a goodway)

I was introduced to social media a few years back. The world has certainly changed sinceFacebook and Twitter entered the room. There has been a fundamental shift in the waywe do business and the way we humans can now interact.globally is a hell of a lotdifferent that the people in the neighborhood..

I am not a religious person. I believe that religion separates people. I believe that we needto come together.not separateWe humans are all connected spiritually and we havealways beenmind, body and spirit

Get connected now. Get help if you are ready.

There is a reason I am writing this, the reason I learned to market using social media overthe past 3 years, the reason I have been a lifelong student of Psychology, the reason I wantto be the change in the world I want to see

I want to give back. I want to use the gift ofmy higher self and what I have learned alongthe way, to help others who are walking the same path I did.
