for licensure in North Carolina, see the –Watson College of Education section of this catalogue.

Students planning to pursue licensure should apply to the Watson College of Education as soon

BIO 458 - Fisheries Biology

Prerequisite or corequisite: BIO 357, STT 215, or consent of instructor. Examination of the factors that control the population metrics such as age, growth, mortality, and abundance, population model construction using spreadsheets, and fishery management strategies. Three lecture and three laboratory hours each week. The lab for this course is BIOL 458. (The description for this course was erroneously changed to an earlier version in the 2011-12 catalogue during the transition to the online catalogue format. This change should not have been made and this correction restores the course description to the wording that was approved in the proofs for the 2011-12 catalogue copy.)

control the population dynamics of fishes. Introduction to the principles of fisheries science

including estimation of population metrics such as age, growth, mortality, and abundance, fish

stock assessment, and fishery management strategies. The lab for this course is BIOL 458.
