SHEET C5.01, TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION FENCE DETAIL ADDITIONA detail was added for the temporary construction fence (CF). A REVISED SHEET C5.01 HAS BEEN ATTACHED TO THIS ADDENDUM #1.

Changes and Clarifications – Bid Form

Bid Additive No. 1 has been relabeled as Bid Additive Item 2. A new Bid Additive 1 has been added to eliminate Phase 3 from the scope of work.

All other terms, conditions and descriptions remain the same. The bid closing date remains 3 May 2019 at 2:00 PM; the bid opening date remains 6 May 2019 at 2:00 PM. This addendum will be posted on VT Procurement website at www.procurement.vt.edu.

In compliance with and subject to your Invitation for Bids and the documents therein specified, all of which are incorporated herein by reference, the undersigned bidder proposes to furnish all labor, equipment, and materials and perform all work necessary for construction of this project, in accordance with the Plans and Specifications dated 19 October 2018, and the Addenda noted below, as prepared by Dewberry Engineers, Charlotte, North Carolina for the consideration of the following amount:

BASE BID (including the following parts but excluding work in Additive Bid Items):

Lump sum price for construction of the following in accordance with the Drawings and Specifications:

Nineteen (19) new electrical receptacles and infrastructure for one (1) new wireless communications access point. The wireless access point is to be furnished by Virginia Tech and installed by the Contractor. Work is to be accomplished in three (3) phases as shown on Drawing No. C3.00. Individual phases of the work are shown on Drawing Nos. C3.01, C3.02 and C3.03. Phase 1 shall be completed before Phase 2 is started, and Phase 2 shall be completed before Phase 3 is started. The Contractor shall erect and maintain all erosion and sediment control (E&SC) measures as indicated on the project Drawings and in the project Specifications. In the event of a conflict between the Drawings and the Specifications the Specifications shall govern. Prior to the commencement of Phase 1 construction activities, Contractor shall coordinate with Virginia Tech’s (VT’s) Facilities (Renovations) Department and Virginia Tech’s Site and Infrastructure Development (SID) Department to coordinate an inspection of the initially installed E&SC measures. No further E&SC measures shall be installed prior to the VT SID inspection. The Contractor shall protect all existing conditions at the Virginia Tech Drone Park as indicated on Drawing No. C2.01. Any existing conditions specifically not identified on Drawing C2.01 shall be protected as found before the start of construction at all times during construction. A 5’-0” x 5’-0” concrete pad with channel framing is to be installed by the Contractor (see Details on Drawing No. E0.01) for an existing equipment cabinet that will be furnished and installed by VT’s Network Infrastructure & Services (N&IS) Department. The Contractor is to coordinate this installation with VT Facilities and VT NI&S personnel.

In lieu of installing the underground electrical conduits outside of the periphery of the Drone Park’s netting, as indicated on the Drawings, install the conduits on the inside of the Drone Park’s netting, effectively using the netting as construction fencing.

Contract award will be based on the TOTAL BASE BID AMOUNT shown above (including any properly submitted bid modifications) plus as many Additive Bid Items taken in sequence as the Owner in its discretion decides to award.

The bidder has relied upon the following public historical climatological records:National Weather Service for Blacksburg, VA.

The undersigned understands that time is of the essence and agrees that the date for Substantial Completion of the entire project shall be on or before 3 June 2019 based on a Notice authorizing Work to proceed on or before 1 May 2019, and Final Completion shall be achieved within 30 consecutive calendar days after the date of Substantial Completion as determined by the A/E.

If notice of acceptance of this bid is given to the undersigned within 30 days after the date of opening of bids, or any time thereafter before this bid is withdrawn, the undersigned will execute and deliver a contract in the prescribed form (Commonwealth of Virginia Contract Between Owner and Contractor, Form CO-9) within 10 days after the contract has been presented to him for signature. The required payment and performance bonds, on the forms prescribed, shall be delivered to the Owner along with the signed Contract.
