Findings and DiscussionFPBS UPI
• Characterization of Captain Haddock
• Maritime cultural elements
• The importance of maintaining the characterization in translating
ConclusionFPBS UPI
• Gramedia’s translation adapts the maritime cultural elements from the source text.
• Those adaptation has an impact:
its uniqueness from the character in swearing that influenced by maritime culture has been successfully maintained.
Make readers aware that every class or social group has its form of swearing.
• Indira’s version only adapts the sense of humor.
