Our next meeting is at 7.30pm next Sunday, 14th January, when Rose Docherty from 40 Days For Life will come and speak. Rose is a dedicated pro-lifer and has a wealth of knowledge of the pro-life struggle. Please come along and hear her and invite family and friends. We will have tea and coffee afterwards. Sister Roseann Reddy has agreed to come on Sunday 11th March. The next 40 Days For Life Prayer Vigil will commence on 14 February 2018, Ash Wednesday. Getting married in 2018? Couples should first speak to Monsignor and then register for one of the Preparation Days. Saturday 24th February Saturday 14th April Saturday 23rd June Saturday 29th September http://rcdop.org.uk/marriage-preparation-day-registration-form

14th January 2018 House Blessing The families of the parish are invited to ask God’s blessing on their home and on those who live in or visit the home. We ask Jesus to be a daily guest in our home, our comings and goings, our conversations, our work and play, our joys and sorrows. You may notice as you enter the church the inscription in chalk 20 + C + M + B + 18. The letters C, M, B have two meanings. They are the initials of the traditional names of the three magi: Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar. They also abbreviate the Latin words Christus mansionem benedicat, “May Christ bless the house.” The “+” signs represent the cross and a blessing. The 20 at the beginning and the 18 at the end is the year. You may wish to use the Latin version on this notice sheet’s masthead. If you don’t have a piece of chalk, Monsignor has some he would be happy to give to you. The idea is that you leave it on the lintel until it fades naturally. Sanctuary Lamp Recently the candle was lit in memory of Elizabeth Fellows followed by the intentions of the Cairns Family then for those with mental health problems. This week is for the private intentions of the donor. The list is available from 9th March onwards. You can sponsor the Lamp for a week…day and night…for any particular intention. A donation of £10 is appreciated and is given to a charity designated by Monsignor. Catholic Education - Good for Scotland The task of the catholic teacher is to guide pupils towards the goal in which their well-being and ultimate perfection consist. The teacher sees in human life a sacredness which transcends physical fitness or even intellectual vigour. The good teacher knows that the material progress, even scientific knowledge, is not the be-all and end-all for which the young charges were made. There is a final and spiritual purpose towards which all hopes and plans must aspire.
