The main objective of the BNP Paribas Foundation is for all young people to have access to similar opportunities to be able to develop their talents in the best possible way. Since the Foundation was created in 2015, it has supported non-profit organisations through a variety of projects for young people.

Overall, the foundation now supports 19 different projects in Germany – seven more than in 2017. The domains covered are education, social commit-ment, personal development through arts, and refugee integration.

Social responsibility and commitment are vital subjects for BNP Paribas and all entities of BNP Paribas in Germany are combining their efforts to create opportunities for youths.

More than 35,000 children and young people benefitted from the projects supported since 2015.

“Leseclub”Readings clubs at schools with focus on inclusion (Stiftung Lesen)

“TalentAkademie”(Bildung und Begabung gGmbH)

+ Goal: Increase motivation to read through creative activities around books

+ Clubs have been set up in BNP Paribas cities; clubs in Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Munich, and Essen are up and running.

+ Further clubs scheduled to open in 2019 in Berlin, Stuttgart, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Leipzig, Bruns-wick, and Duisburg.

+ Corporate Volunteering activities by BNP Paribas employees in the reading clubs have started.

+ TalentAkademie (TA) suppor-ted teenagers in discovering their personal talents and developing their skills du-ring a 2-week summer camp in August plus a follow-up workshop six months later.

+ During follow-up workshops Human Resources from dif-ferent BNP Paribas entitiessupported with information on options after school and training for job interviews.

+ The support ended in 2018 because the format of TA will be changed in 2019.

“Good to see you”Art workshops for young people with psychosomatic illnesses (Stiftung Kunstsammlung NRW)

+ Stiftung Kunstsammlung NRW has developed “Good to see you” to help youths express feelings and thoughts with artistic language and other means.

+ Kunstsammlung NRW partners with Alfred-Adler-Schule. The school is part of a hospital for children with psychosomatic diseases.

+ The programme comprises weekly workshops plus 4 project weeks.

+ Prolongation for 2019 has been approved as the programme has been very successful.

“Kammerklicke”(Münchner Kammerspiele)

+ Theatre production by young people between 14 and 21 years of age who have dif� cult access to education, training and profession

+ Goals: achieving compe-tence in different theatre disciplines (acting, directing, scenery, light, sound) and personality development

+ Participants are put forward by social institutions.

+ The programme is led by a professional team (director, musician, back-stage staff) and accompanied by a social worker.

+ Prolongation for 2019 has been approved due to the positive impact of the programme.

+ Two-year programme to prepare refugees with residence permit status for studies at a German university consisting of – Language and cultural courses plus peering with German students – Monthly allowance of € 100 to buy study material needed – Summer academy to train academic working

+ Goethe University Frankfurt and Accadis Business School Bad Homburg are partners of the programme.

Summer break offer for children at Pinakothek der Moderne (PIN – Freunde der Pinakothek der Moderne e.V.)

+ Goal: The aim is not only to get to know the arts and promote creativity, but also to take into account the social aspect and the formation of a commu-nity that unites children from diffe-rent social backgrounds and cultures.

+ Participants: children between 6 and 12 years, partly selected by a social organisation from families in need, mostly with migration background

Help2Help is a world-wide programme of BNP Paribas to recognise employee engagement. In Germany BNP Paribas Stiftung implemen-ted the initiative.

The voluntary commitment of the employees impresses each year again. The variety of associations where they

give their time and energy range from support for underprivileged children up to hospices.

(VITA Assistenzhunde e.V.)

“ Follow-up care teams – children & dogs”

+ VITA provides assistance dogs to handicapped people regardless of their fi nancial situation.

+ Goal: An assistance dog supports in daily life and is a loyal friend for the handicapped children who gain self-con� dence and become more independent. The dog has impact on all levels: mental, physical, social, and cognitive.

+ Throughout the dog’s life the trai-ning continues as daily circumstan-ces and the handicap of the human partner change.

+ The teams come back to the training centre regularly. Sharing experience among the teams is another import-ant part.

+ German roll-out of a resilience training programme for families with seriously ill or handicapped children, developed in cooperation with the Institute for applied education (Graz)

+ Goal: Families with a member who attended a resilience training are more balanced – including children, parents, siblings, and other relatives concerned.

“ Inclusion Coach for Handicapped Youths”+ The inclusion coach supports pupils

in special schools for handicapped children before, during and after in-ternships on the regular job market. She/he also advises employers and family members.

+ Goal: Positioning on the regular job market for comprehensive social inclusion

+ An early start of special measures and advice increases the chance that handicapped people will not work in secured workshops but on the regular job market. Often this possibility is not even considered.

+ Goal: prepare young people for a digital world with re-spective competencies needed. The participants develop from gaming consumers to creative producers.

+ YFU offers international exchange programmes for young people from 15 to 19 years old.

+ Children who are engaged in society and cannot afford the participation fee to spend a school year abroad can apply for a scholarship.

+ Goal: Children with social economic disadvantages are under-repre-sented in international exchange programmes, although they benefi t over-proportionally according to studies (personal development).

Future Initiative (Deutsche Kinder- und Jugendstiftung (DKJS))

+ Goal: The aim of 25next is to develop future educational programmes which will prepare youths better for their future life.

+ Identifi cation and defi nition of projects are based on the workshop results “Bildung neu denken” (re-thinking education) throughout Germany.

+ The results of the initiative will be communi-cated widely and presented to representatives from politics, economy, and science.

You shall rise: Needed equipment for the intercultural music ensemble (refugees and locals)

Stiftung Lesen: Webinars for teachers in integration/welcome classes to support reading and teaching German

Don Bosco, Wurzburg: Project “Study time” Support for young refugees to achieve school graduation

Joblinge gAG: Project “Kompass” Qualifi cation and job/apprenticeship placement for young refugees (Roll-out of the adapted competence test to all German branches)

Deutsches Kinderhilfswerk: Financing of school bags for refugees in different German cities

Condrobs e.V., Munich: Project “Refugee Integration” Set-up of a recreation area, purchase of school materials needed

“ Refugee Projects”Within BNP Paribas Group’s commitments to refugees,

seven projects were supported in 2018. The focus was on integration through language and education.
