Activity 3 – Animated BannerYou must create an animated banner for inclusion in an e-newsletter promoting ‘Movie City'.The animated banner must:

• be approximately the full width of the e-newsletter x 150 pixels deep

• include your logo and strapline• include a suitable title for the e-newsletter• run continuously.

•Prepare a timeline storyboard for your animated banner. Use this template to help you.•Save your timeline storyboard in your Activity3 folder.•Gather and prepare the content for your animated banner.•Create the animated banner.•Ask your test buddy and teacher for feedback. Make changes if necessary.•Check that your sources table is up-to-date.•Save your final animated banner in your Activity3 folder.•Answer the questions about your animated banner in your Activity 3 review.

Activity 3 – E-newsletter 1 – overview

You must produce an interactive e-newsletter to promote ‘Movie City'. It must be viewable in a browser and allow the user to control how they move around the product.

Here are some websites with examples of e-newsletters.

A link to the e-newsletter will be emailed to individuals, local community groups, schools and charities.

Your e-newsletter should include images or other assets that will attract attention and encourage people to attend the event.

The e-newsletter must have:•the animated banner•a brief introduction to ‘Movie City‘•a link to a new movies section•a link to an event section•a link to the 'save the date' audio clip.

The event section must include a link to the digital advert.

The event section must provide clear information about the event based on your recommendations.

Activity 3 – E-newsletter 2 – designDevelop a set of storyboards for the e-newsletter. This should include an overview storyboard and separate storyboards for each section.

The overview storyboard should show the structure of the e-newsletter including:

•page layout, specifying the location of sections and key assets•details of navigation and links.

The section storyboards should be detailed enough to show clearly what the sections will be like, including:

•background and layout •font colours, styles and sizes •description of content needed such as text, images, animation, etc. •any links.

Annotate your storyboards to help others understand your choices.

Ask your test buddy and teacher for feedback. Make changes if necessary.

Check that your sources table is up-to-date.

Save your storyboards in your Activity3 folder.

Activity 3 – E-newsletter 3 – Build

Gather and prepare the content for your e-newsletter.

Make sure that the audio clip and digital advert are in suitable formats so they can be accessed from the browser.

Check that your sources table is up-to-date.

Make sure that all the assets of your e-newsletter are saved in your Activity3 folder.

Build the e-newsletter using your designs to help you.

Test your e-newsletter to make sure that it works properly. It should be informative and encourage people to attend the event.

Ask your test buddy and teacher for feedback. Make changes if necessary.

Check that your sources table is up-to-date.

Make sure that the e-newsletter is saved in your Activity3 folder.

Answer the questions about the e-newsletter in your Activity 3 review .

What does a storyboard look like?

E-Newsletter• Storyboards are useful way of planning

products and should capture all details and design decisions.

• What the practise Cab wants from you• What else do you need to think about?

– Different types of links – text, images, symbols

– Navigation –moving from page to page or around a page with ease.

– Consistency –font, colour, positioning, layout, use of symbols, location and order of navigation links.

Tips• Logos and emblems create a sense of identity.• Symbols and buttons for ease of use.• If using video clips keep them short.• Using sounds can create an atmosphere• Animation is great to show how something

works but it can be very irritating!• Text is not always easy to read on screen so

limit the number or words. Use short easy to read chunks, crisp and clear to keep your audience interested.

E-Newsletter• Preparation includes gathering all of the

information, images, audio files, video clips etc.

• These need to be saved in one folder that you will use to create your e-newsletter.

• Things to remember! – saving your sources, the purpose of your product, the audience of your product.
