How to play
Tools: You need dice and chips according to the number of groups you want to play with.
Rules:
Students take turns rolling the dice. Everytime they roll the dice they count the number of spaces in the game and wherever they land, they use the picture to say two sentences about it.
The Signs
The pirate represents a death trap. That means if you land on a pirate box you will need to go back to START. (VERY BAD)
The GO BACK sign is another trap in the game. (NOT GOOD)
The GO FORWARD SIGN helps you advance.(GOOD)

Skills to practice:Practice talking about hobbies using gerunds. For example like + doing.Class Levels: Good for elementary and pre-intermediate students.Requirements: Cut out the game resources below. Cut out the balls or players and use asmarkersHow to play:
1. The idea is for students to use the words in the orange rectangles and combine withthe words in the white triangles to make sentences related to hobbies.
2. Every time they successfully make a sentence they advance to the next word. Whenthey get to the free space, they can come up with any sentence or questions related tohobbies. If the throw in word in the orange rectangles has question at the end, the sentencehas to be a question.
3. The other team or player must listen carefully to spot the mistakes. If there isn t anymistake in the sentence, the player can keep his/her space.
4. If there is a mistake the team or player gets a yellow card and move back one step. Ifno mistake they keep their captured space. The other team takes its turn to combinecue words and keys words to make sentences. Every successful sentence means theyretain the space and prepare to advance.
5. Both teams (players) keep advancing until they meet on one space. When they meetthey do ROCKS, PAPER and SCISSORS. The team that looses the ROCKS, PAPER &SCISSORS guess, gets a red card and goes back to start. The winning side continuesuntil they meet again. Every time they, meet they do rocks, paper, and scissors to seewho gets a red card. The team that gets to the other team s goal, wins.
6. When players get to the centre, it is a FREE space so they can create any sentencethey like.
7. If you decide to continue, try different key words or swap sides after the first sidewins.
8. Feel free to adapt this game for your classes as you like. Also feel free to modify oradd rules.
9. Print and laminate the board games so you can reuse it.Tips for large classes:
This game is a board game, but can also be played in a large class. Photocopy the game on anA3 or larger paper size, or project in on a projector if your class has one. Use blue tag to stickteam players as they advanced.
