Dear Parents and Carers,
Three pieces of great news this week:
1. Congratulations to the Eco Committee who have recently achieved the GreenFlag Award. This means we are now an International Eco School. A special thankyou to Ms Paoletti for supporting the Eco Committee during their successfulapplication and Green Flag assessment.
2. Congratulations to Shaquille Stewart who has been offer a place on theprestigious attRAct 2020 programme at the Royal Academy. The attRActprogramme allows Shaquille the opportunity to join up to 5 workshops everymonths from January to December at the Royal Academy in Piccadilly. Theprogramme attracts many of the best artists who live and work in the UK.
3. Congratulations to Adya Parashar and Yaseen Haider who havebeen invited to attend the ‘Made by History’ essay competition 2019prize-winners ceremony on 29 November at City Hall. The essay competition isrun by the Voice magazine. The essay title this year was “Who is your favouriteblack author and why?”

Year 9 students go on a fabulous sailing trip
Young Volunteer of the Year Awards Ceremony
On Tuesday 19 November six ACS students went on a sailing trip to Welsh Harp Reservoir as part of the RYA wellbeing project. The students learnt how to rig a PICO yacht and paddled along the reservoir. Despite the cold weather, the students had a wonderful time and are really excited about the upcoming sessions. Many thanks to Ms Edwards and Ms Green for all their hard work in supporting this project.
Last week our student Riya Giri, winner of the Young Volunteer of the Year in the Pride of Brent 2019, attended an awards ceremony where she received a voucher, a certificate and a trophy for her excellent achievements. Riya has made amazing progress over the past 5 years at Alperton, demonstrating an exemplary attitude to her studies and extracurricular commitments. Many thanks to Mr Rayleigh and Ms Edwards for nominating and supporting Riya.
Six-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton visits our schoolLast week we were absolutely delighted to welcome the six-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton to our school!
Our students were thrilled to be given the opportunity to ask him questions and were immensely inspired by his encouraging words. Such an incredible experience!

The school will pay for any DBS checks required, fares on public transport and meals.
Throughout the year we run many educational trips and visits - from Geneva in Switzerland to the Hindu Temple on Ealing Road. We would love to be able to organise even more exciting trips, if parents were able to o�er their support. The trips will always be of educational value and are intended to be inspirational to student learning.

National Tree Week
On Saturday 23 November, the ACS Eco Committee joined the National Tree Week campaign and planted 100 trees at One Tree Hill Park. Many students brought along their brothers and sisters to support this great cause. It was a wonderful educational event that brought the community together and all the participants had a fantastic time. Well done everyone!
