Welcome to the winter edition of AcroChat.
In this issue we continue our theme of What’s New, Acromet News, Handy
Hints and Case Studies.
The response to our first edition was pleasing and we hope that you continue
to feel the same about this issue.
We live and work in challenging times and sometimes, especially when winter
days have set in, it is to easy to hibernate.
Well not our Tim Sells who has always something to smile about …..especially
the recent award that is reprinted overleaf with the kind permission of WIOA.

Sells is Sold on Joining WIOA’s “Inextricably Obstructed Tap Society” (IDIOTS)
Tim Sells from Acromet Australia was Inducted as a Delegate of the Inextricably Obstructed Tap
Society (IDIOTS) of the Water Industry Operators Association of Australia (WIOA) at the Victo-
rian conference held in November 2012.
WIOA is a national non-for-profit association with a primary role of facilitating the collection,
development and exchange of quality information between people undertaking operational
roles in the water industry. This award is designed to recognise the contribution of members
over an extended period and is only surpassed in prestige by Life Membership of the Associa-
tions.
Tim began work as an apprentice Fitter and Turner in 1982, the year South Melbourne became
the Swans and the Newtown Jets & Canterbury Bulldogs fought out the only (to date) scoreless
draw in NSWRL first grade history.
In 1987 Tim began working for Permutit Australia as a service technician looking after all man-
ner of water filtration equipment – sand filters, carbon filters, water softeners, demineralisation
plants, and RO.
Moving on after 14 years, Tim had a 3 year stint with Cadbury Schweppes, before
being approached by Acromet to establish a service department. Tim joined Acromet
in 2004 and has been a supporter of WIOA and a regular attendee at WIOA events
ever since.
Tim has been Acromet’s nominated Corporate Member representative since 2007 and
was instrumental in Acromet’s decision to become a Prime sponsor of WIOA events in
2008.
Tim has attended almost all the conferences in NSW, Queensland and Victoria since
2008 and at every event he has hopped in and helped out, most notably as a forklift
driver and in setting up and pulling down the expos. Although Tim is not on the WIOA
Committee, he is a reliable and active member and is very deserving of being inducted
into the IDIOTS fold.
Some of Tim’s memorable moments include:
• Working on Desal plants on the Esso Oil Rigs in Bass Strait,
• Training service techs in SA in the old Permutit days,
• Trips to Bangkok, Hamilton Island and
Hayman Island – all in the name of work.
• And of course all the shows with the
WIOA family – there’s always a tale to be
told just about everyone.
Tim’s response
It’s a huge honour to be presented the IDIOTS award
and to join an elite group of similarly recognized
IDIOTS. On a more serious note, I was totally surprised
and humbled to be recognised for services to the water
industry and WIOA; something I never expected or felt I
deserved. It is truly rewarding being part of the Water
Industry and to be involved with the WIOA family as a
volunteer and exhibitor. Thanks all.

The M range of magnetically driven centrifugal pumps can be quickly and easily maintained with the............ “Quick Change Cartridge Kit”.
It comprises the complete rotating assembly of the pump including the impeller, internal bear-ings and the inner magnet for the specified pump.
The changeover process is simple:
Flush the pump casing to remove any remaining chemical.
Undo the pumps casing retaining bolts and remove the pump casing.
Remove the cartridge assembly from the main housing.
Insert the new “RWP Quick Change Cartridge Kit”.
Re-assemble the remaining parts in reverse order.
Now you can inspect and replace the individual parts required to refur-bish the cartridge and place it into your store for the next programmed maintenance schedule. For further details contact Acromet.

it’s called the present.

The Customer: GWM Water
The requirement was for a self contained
Polymer dosing station to achieve an 80 NTU
drop in turbidity.
Due to the small injection rate, relatively low
pressure and PLC control it was decided that
the Acromet E’ Series metering pump was
ideal for the application.
As part of the design brief the metering pump
had to be located in a safe area. Hence the
client accepted the concept of an all in one
IBC and lockable spill containment station.
The pump station is designed for metering pumps and / or transfer
pumps application where an IBC and spill containment features can be
provided in one secure assembly.
