Pathway 1: GCSE Science + GCSE Additional Science
• GCSE Science was started in Year 9.• Exams are taken in the May of Year 10.• There are 3 (B1/C1/P1) and a controlled assessment task
(coursework). • Each is worth 25% of the final mark/grade.• Each exam paper is worth 60 marks and will take 1 hour to
complete. • GCSE Additional Science is started after the exams in Year 10.• Exams are taken at the end of Year 11 (B2/C2/P2) and a further
controlled assessment task is completed.

Pathway 2: GCSE Science + GCSE Additional Science
+ GCSE Further Additional Science • Accelerated• Students study three extra examined units
(B3/C3/P3).• Students complete an extra controlled assessment
task (three in total).• The content is identical to separate GCSEs in
Biology, Chemistry and Physics – our approach means we spread out the exams and controlled assessment
