COURSE OVERVIEWWithout accounting, businesses would have no idea how much money they earn or how much they lose. This is why business accountants play a very important role. They calculate profit and perform various analyses to determine if the company’s earnings reports are correct, and that they are not running at a loss. To fulfill this role, you will need strong financial accounting skills. The Certificate in Business Accounting will teach you the fundamentals of management accounting, business economics and financial accounting. You will learn how the different areas of accounting relate to one another in the business world, how to prepare financial reports, how to do performance forecasts and how to make decisions using different analysis techniques. At the end of this course, you will be able to apply for business accountant positions.

This module focuses on fundamental knowledge of, and techniques that support, management accounting. You will learn about the role of management accounting in commercial and public sector organisations, as well as the bigger role it plays in society. Topics covered in this module include The context of management accounting, costing, planning and control and decision-making.

Learn what financial accounting is, and what the process of preparingfinancial statements involves. By the end of this module, you will be able to prepare financial statements on your own. Topics covered in this module include accounting principles, concepts and regulations, recording accounting transactions, preparation of accounts for single entities and analysis of financial statements.

Learn how to present professional standards for the benefit of allstakeholders. Topics covered in this module include business ethics andethical conflict, corporate governance, controls and corporate social responsibility, general principles of the legal system, contract and employment law and company administration.
