TEAM

SHINEClad in orange T-shirts and running shoes, Shine.FM listeners and Olivet students, faculty, staff and alumni banded together as “Team Shine” to raise critical funding for World Vision through the 2012 Chicago Marathon. Together with the entire Team World Vision (TWV), they helped raise a staggering total of $1.6 million that will be used to provide clean water to impoverished villages in Africa.

“Schools designated as ‘Colleges of Distinction’ create well-rounded graduates and are among the very best in the country,” said executive editor of Colleges of Distinction™ Tyson Schritter. Colleges and universities are nominated for participation in Colleges of Distinction through high school counselors’ recom-mendations, as well as quantitative research. Once nominated, the colleges are assessed for four distinc-tions: student engagement, quality of teaching, vibrancy of the college community and success of graduates. Olivet was found to excel in all four distinctions and will receive a personal profile on the Colleges of Distinction website. CollegesofDistinction.com offers dynamic college profiles and easy-to-use search tools for students, parents and counselors. The website includes tips from high school guidance counselors and essays from college stu-dents, presidents and other members of campus communities.

For the eighth consecutive year, Olivet Nazarene University has been ranked as one of the Best Colleges for 2013 by “U.S. News & World Report” in its “College Guidebook” and on its website. For more than 25 years, “U.S. News & World Report” has pub-lished its Best Colleges guidebook, which is the most widely recognized list of its kind. Students around the country use the report as a tool to help them find the right college to attend. “At Olivet, we value our rich traditions

while maintaining our passion for excel-lence,” says Dr. Brian Allen, vice president

of institutional advancement. “Our rigorous academic programs and love for students continue to be hallmarks of the Olivet experience. “Olivet’s dedicated faculty and staff are enriching the lives of our students, churches and commu-

nities through their dedication to providing Education with a Christian

Purpose. Together, we are making a differ-ence for our world.”
