REGISTER YOUR ODD JOBS FOR THE 2012 DUTCH NATIONAL VOLUNTEER DAYS 1 December 2011 – The Dutch National Volunteer Days (NL DOET) is when the Oranje Fonds puts volunteer work under the spotlight at a national level. The aim is to illustrate the importance of volunteering to society and to contribute to the positive image of voluntary work. This annual initiative is a way to recruit new volunteers and offers people a specific opportunity to gain an insight into voluntary work without obligation. During NL DOET, as many people as possible across the whole of the Netherlands get involved for one day. Volunteers are matched to tasks and organisations via a special website. Over 250,000 volunteers across the country carry out a total of 6,000 tasks. To date almost a thousand odd jobs have already been registered in preparation for the 2012 Dutch National Volunteer Days 16 – 17 March 2012. The Oranje Fonds expects the number of situations in which volunteers roll up their sleeves and get down to work to be even greater this year. Hopefully the number of A&W odd jobbers will exceed that of last year too. Register your odd jobs Could you do with an extra pair of hands? Repainting your clubhouse or community centre or organising a day out for the elderly or handicapped in your community? Then get your request in quickly to be sure that your odd job is publicised in the national media campaign appealing for volunteers, which starts at the beginning of February 2012. Register your odd jobs at www.nldoet.nl A maximum of €500 per odd job Should your initiative involve any costs for materials, transportation or entrance fees then you can apply for financial support from the Oranje Fonds. Your application must be submitted by 11 January 2012. The Oranje Fonds has €1.5 million available, but be quick, the funding is allocated on a first come first served basis (op=op). Are you that extra pair of hands? If you are an extra pair of hands looking for a suitable odd job whether you are an individual, a business, a school, a club or a group of friends, click here: http://www.nldoet.nl/nldoet/144397/ or contact HOF. /Deborah

ADVERTISING TEAM SEEKING TEAM MEMBERS 'Sales' – for some a dreaded word, for others a stimulating challenge! One of the ways ACCESS funds its activities is by offering advertising opportunities in our magazine (soon to be eZine) and on our new website. While all volunteers are encouraged to share this with service providers, contacts they build up along the way (the new media pack will be available shortly), it would be great to have someone to work with Wiggert and Irene on the team – helping to research possible advertisers depending on theme of eZine, contacting them, keeping administration up to date etc. If you think this is something for you, let Deborah or VRD know. [email protected] vrd@access-‐nl.org
25TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT We are looking for people to help us think of an event to commemorate ACCESS' 25th Anniversary as well as help plan it. Interested? Let VRD know vrd@access-‐nl.org
