Features

Health and SafetyQuadBox and RadBox systems offer significant health and safety benefits:

Lifting WeightsThe chambers are lightweight with the heaviest section weighing less than 20kg. This complies with current European manual handling best practice guidelines and removes the need for lifting equipment.

Dust and VibrationDuct entries are cut with a standard holesaw with minimum vibration, and the chamber material being inert, presents no health risk to operatives or members of the public.

ChemicalsPreformed chambers reduce exposure to concrete and other on-site chemicals.

Box FurnitureA range of steps, cable bearers and brackets is available for both chamber types. QuadBox furniture has a plug-in mechanism. RadBox furniture is bolt-on. Plastic floors, including ‘drop-in’ type, are also available and can be supplied prefitted if required.

Efficient InstallationQuadBox and RadBox preformed chambers offer a fast and easy construction method with no requirement for specialist or skilled building teams. Construction is rapid with no need for concrete backfill in most cases. Users can complete a chamber from excavation to reinstatement on a single visit.

Load BearingQuadBox and RadBox are manufactured to Class B125 of BS EN124:1994 which means they are suitable for non-carriageway applications in car parks and pedestrian areas where there is no heavy vehicle access.

QuadBox 1310mm is certified to Class C250 for non-carriageway applications including areas with slow moving heavy traffic.

Frames and CoversRadius supplies a range of frames and covers in concrete or ductile iron to suit relevant applications. Rising frames which facilitate changes in pavement height are also available.

QuadBox is a robust preformed underground access chamber system offering fast and easy installation. A lightweight stacking system made from 150mm high ring sections, QuadBox offers great depth versatility.

ApplicationsQuadBox is suitable for use in all types of buried networks and utilities. It is ideally suited to telecom networks and is the first modular joint box system to be approved by BT for use in its national network.

QuadBox can be used for both new build and retrofit. The modular design of QuadBox makes it perfect for retrofitting on existing ducted networks. Chambers can also be benched to avoid existing services and duct entries can be cut in any location.

Built-in StrengthQuadBox provides a reliable system with preformed quality and strength. It is moulded from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) using structural foam moulding techniques. HDPE has excellent chemical resistance and mouldings are stress-free with excellent side wall stiffness.

Single Visit InstallationQuadBox has immediate load bearing strength and offers single visit installation, with no need for concrete backfill. Installation can be completed in less than two hours and does not require a specialist or skilled building team. Installation instructions and technical backup are available.

Unique Drop-in FurnitureFurniture fitting could not be easier. Simply place steps, cable bearers and brackets into ready-made pockets within the chamber.

Duct EntriesDuct entries are also simple to achieve using a stand-ard holesaw mounted on a cordless drill.

RadBox is a high performance preformed underground access chamber for use in any non-carriageway civil engineering project. It is a fully modular system comprising of interlocking panels and corners which fit together to create almost any size of chamber.

ApplicationsRadBox is suitable for use in all types of buried networks and utilities. It is an ideal choice for projects with large or unusually sized chambers.

Maximum ModularitySingle wall panels are available in standard sizes which can be used in any combination to build modular chambers of required depth, width and length.

Longer chambers are possible using jointing pins to link multiple panels per side. Depth options: all sizes are moulded in 500mm or 150mm deep panels. Panels clip and stack together to produce a wide variety of depth options.

Built-in StrengthRadBox provides a reliable system with preformed quality and strength. It is moulded from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) using structural foam moulding techniques. HDPE has excellent chemical resistance and mouldings are stress free with excellent side wall stiffness.

RadBox® Access Chamber

Chamber Sizes

NOTE: Dimensions are clear openings, panels are available in heights of 150mm and 500mmSize Selector

There are five panel sizes (450mm, 600mm, 750mm, 900mm and 1050mm) which can be used as single panels or connected together with a joint pin to build extended panel sides. These incorporate reinforced steel supports to ensure wall stiffness.

Corner joints are used to form the final chamber. Multi chambers can be achieved by using cross joints.

Panels of 150mm and/or 500mm (depth) can be stacked to achieve the required depths. Please note that due to the design characteristics of 500mm panels, the final depth when stacking two x 500mm panels will be reduced by 30mm ((2 x 500mm)-30mm=970mm). Typical depths are 970mm, 1120mm and 1440mm.

Specialist Chambers

In addition to our standard range, boxes can be customised to suit your requirements. An example is the RadBox Minipillar chamber pictured below which was developed and custom made to suit the requirements of the Irish utility, Electricity Supply Board. The boxes are factory prepared to accommodate the customer’s cabinet and have pre-cut duct entries ready for use.
