Mission Statement

The mission of the Monrovia High School

Math & Science Academy (MASA) is to offer

a rigorous and challenging curriculum to

Monrovia students interested in

mathematics and the sciences. Graduates

of this academy will have an excellent

preparation for college – level courses, AP

courses.

MASA serves students who are interested in

pursuing careers in math and science. The

Academy is a comprehensive, four-year high

school curriculum that offers a highly

competitive college-preparatory program

and seeks to prepare students for success in

college-level math and science classes.

To be a MASA graduate, a student MUST

complete 10 service hours per year, a junior

project, and 4 AP courses, 3 of which are in

the math and/or sciences. As a MASA

graduate, students earn the designation

stamp on their transcript and diploma; they

wear the honor cords at graduation, and are

recognized in the graduation program.

Approximately 16% (2015 data) of the

student body at MHS is a part of MASA,

which involves Advanced Placement classes,

math and science clubs, a professional

seminar speaker series, a junior year

research project, service hours, and field

trips that give students hands-on experience

in the fields of math, science, engineering,

and technology.
