Shrek:

Released on June 29th 2001 Shrek was a very successful film created by DreamWorks. It is well known across the world and millions of people know of this fairy tale story involving the famous ogre, Shrek. This film is well known for its fantasy comedian featuring high quality actors such as Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz and John Lithgow. Overall the film was so successful it sold up $484.4million (£313.3million worth) at the worldwide box office. The film took on $60milllon to make so they had made a substantial profit from how much the cost was in the making of the film, to how much was earned from producing the film.

The film was a commercial success and had done itself justice in the time the film had come out. The film itself when it was made had to compete with the high quality from the Pixar films that were already out at the time. Due to it being so successful first time round over all other films focused in the same areas that Shrek was made in, they made three sequels to conclude the fairy-tale adventure. Also, there are spin off movies from off the film because the characters used in the film are so iconic and memorable. “Puss in Boots” was one spin off from the film as there is a character known as Puss in Boots in the film so they decided to make a story around him as well.

They’ve also done holidays specials such as “Shrek the Halls” based around the times of Christmas to bring a fun environment and good entertainer for all the family to enjoy. Likewise with “Scared Shrekless”, this was made in the

Halloween holiday to make their characters be remembered.

Box art for Shrek has been made to be really appeallig to the younger audience using the most famous ogre in the world. The colour green on the skin of Shrek and facial features are regarded to the film as the character looks weird but funny at the same time. The younger audience would certainly enjoy the box art of the film as the character Shrek is on the front and its unique to all others you see on shelves.

Hook:

Made in 1991 Hook was a fantastic film for the whole family to watch. Linking to the books that were written about Peter Pan and the lost boys, the film showed us that even Peter Pan could grow up. This film gives a unique twist to the original Peter Pan story as you are made to believe Peter Pan will never grow up. The whole story is made to be fun and focuses around Peter Pan forgetting his childhood in Neverland. Living a normal life, Peter Pan played by world famous Robin Williams returns

back to the fantasy world he once lived in “Neverland” as a middle aged man. The film is based around the questions asked by the public “what if Peter Pan grew up?” then through the film the audience were given their answer as to what Steven Spielberg’s insight was to Peter Pan growing up. This film made by Steven Spielberg is a gripping adventure film made for all the family to enjoy. Still to this day it is remembered for its entertaining movie scenes and how each character the actors in the film play. The actors included Robin Williams (Peter Pan), Dustin Hoffman (Captain Hook), Julia Roberts (Tinker Bell), Bob Hoskins (Smee), Maggie Smith (Granny Wendy), Caroline Goodall (Moira Banning) and Charlie Korsmo (Jack Banning). On the whole the film acts as a sequel to the novel that was made in 1911 “Peter and Wendy”.

The development of the film was done in the early 1980s with Walt Disney Productions and Paramount Pictures who had between them made a silent film in 1925 and an animated film in 1953. Unfortunately the film wasn’t as successful as was hoped from the plans, box office intake was lower than expected and the film received negative reviews from critics even though it was a commercial success.

Furthermore, this film had influenced the use of merchandise such as video games that were being made at the time, action figures specifically for the younger audiences it was aimed at and comic book adaptations that were very popular at the time.

The box art for Hook is old but it enables you to know what the film is going to be about with the use of the Captains famous on show. It also uses the man represent Peter Pan, which suggests the audience may be interested in watching the film as Peter Pan is old in the film, whereas in other Peter Pan films he chooses growing up is not for him.

Frozen:

The film as released November 19th 2013 and it lasts up to 102minutes. This will be 102minutes of entertainment due to the amount that was accomplished through this film. It was made in the United States and was directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee. The overall budget for the film was costing around $150million and they had earned a profit from the box office, which they had profited about $1.3billion (£839millon)Frozen is a 2013 American 3D computer-animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is one of the most loved Disney films of all time, known for its famous characters and songs that are in the film. The inspiration for the film came from “The Snow Queen”, a fairy tale produced by Hans Christian. From the story we are shown the epic journey alongside a rugged iceman, is loyal pet reindeer, and a naïve snowman to find her estranged sister, whose icy powers have inadvertently trapped the kingdom in eternal winter. Because the

film is based around this young princess with icy powers, Walt Disney Pictures realized that Christmas was the best time to show off their film. They knew how commercialized Christmas is so they decided.

It features the voices of the characters Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad and Santino Fontana. Christophe Beck, who had worked on Disney's award-winning short film Paperman. The film was a massive commercial success earning $1.3billlon (£839millon) in worldwide box office revenue, $400million (£258million) of what was in earned in United States and Canada also up to $247million (£159million) earned in Japan.

The characters in frozen are notoriously known around the world as its one of the most successful Disney films ever. The box art for the film comes with hundreds of posters that are made for the huge fan base that love the film Frozen. The colours used tend to vary between white and blue as they are colours that represent winter, which is when, the film is based. It is also based around the dreadful curse the young princess has around her and the colours used are intriguing and would make the younger audience want to watch the film (they would love to watch around Christmas)

Snow White:

Snow White is a German fairy tale that is well known across Europe and is today one of the most famous fairy tales worldwide. The fairy tale features elements in the film such as the magic mirror, poisoned apple, and the glass coffin and the characters of the evil queen/stepmother of Snow White and the famous and world-renowned seven dwarfs. The dwarfs names were allocated in the a Broadway play that was made in 1912 called coincidentally “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” and then they were given different names in Walt Disney’s 1937 film, but the title of the play stayed the same for the film. The film itself has some religious interpretations through the colours red, white, and black; the apple; the number seven; and the resurrection of snow white.

The box cover for snow identifies all the main characters in the film that are well regarded to over time about snow and the seven dwarves that was made in 1937. The colours used are basic but inviting to a younger audience to make them want to watch the film as they clearly show what is in the image on the box art. It also interprets a bit of a scene in the film which could be used as a idea for the making of my concept art.

It’s appealing to the younger audience as they have been made in a cartoon effect and also girls as its sort of based around a young romance film involving animals as the main character. The box art has been made by Disney and has used useful colours that make it stand out on the box for the film.

The box art cover gives us a good understanding as to what the film may be about. It makes you want to watch the film and find out what its about and why there’s a boy riding a beastly animal. The animals on the front are made up creatures that children may find appealing to look at when watching the film as they aren’t real and they give some sort of imaginary for other stories. The world needs a hero according to the title, it makes you think as to what the character will go through in the film and will the film be entertaining when you watch it. The colour blue has been varied off the animals colouring and the night sky, this could suggest the characters beastly animal is a white or lighter colour. 01
