AcademicsIn order to participate in the commencement ceremony, you must meet the Santa Ana Unified School District graduation requirements. Please see your counselor if you have any questions regarding your academic status.

Alcohol/DrugsPlease remember that the end of your high school career is also the beginning of your journey in life. Do not make the mistake of becoming influenced by others to consume alcohol and/or drugs. Any student who is under the influence or in the possession of alcohol and/or drugs at any school related functions will be recommended for expulsion. If you are suspended prior to graduation, you will NOT participate in the ceremony.

Absences/TardiesAttend all of your classes because good attendance is one of the best ways to help you succeed in your classes. All unexcused absences can lead to the loss of some or all senior activities.

Class ReunionsThe first reunion for the Class of 2017 will be in 2027. The Senior Class President will form a committee to plan the reunion. Alumni will be contacted when plans are made. Please make sure Saddleback High School has your family’s address. Reunions are typically held every five to ten years. For further information in the future, please visit GreatReunions.com (800-655-7971) or the Saddleback High School website.

YearbooksYearbooks will be sold for $70 with your ASB card and $80 without. Yearbooks are available for sale in the Student Activities Office (limited supply).

Awards Ceremonies The District Top 100 Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 by

invitation only. Saddleback Senior and Department Awards will be held on Thursday, May 25,

2017 at 5:30 PM.

Awards - Dress CodeFor all students participating in any award ceremony, it is important that some basic rules are followed at each event.

Proper attire for gentlemen will be: dress shirt, dress pants (slacks), tie, socks, and dress shoes.

Proper attire for ladies will be: dress, blouse/skirt, blouse/dress pants, and dress shoes. Please do not bring flowers, balloons, or presents with you or your family. Athletic footwear will NOT be permitted.

Senior Lock-InFriday, June 16The Senior Lock-In will be held in the Gym from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Seniors MUST attend this event and be on time. The final list of graduates will be posted. Seniors will receive their commencement ceremony tickets, yearbooks, and last minute awards.

Commencement PracticeMonday, June 19Commencement Practice is at Eddie West Field at 8:00 AM sharp. Start arriving at 7:30 AM. This practice is mandatory for all graduating seniors who plan on participating in the commencement ceremony. Students who do not attend may have their participation in the commencement ceremony revoked. You must be on time. Carpooling is strongly recommended due to the heavy usage of the Civic Center’s parking structure. Please arrive by 7:30 AM to sign-in and line-up. Seniors must enter through the VIP parking lot of the stadium on 6th street west of Flower.

PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN RESIDENTIAL STREETS, AS YOUR CAR WILL BE TOWED.

Commencement CeremonyMonday, June 19Commencement Ceremony is at Eddie West Field at 4:00 PM. Seniors must arrive by 3:00 PM.

Park in the parking structure across from the field, or the other two structures a few blocks down. (limited parking at $5.00 per car).

PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN RESIDENTIAL STREETS, AS YOUR CAR WILL BE TOWED. Ceremony tickets will be distributed on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Senior Lock-In.

Each student will receive 10 tickets. Students can request additional tickets for the ceremony prior to the event, in the ASB office.

All state and district graduation requirements must be met in order to participate. Diploma requirements are subject to change as mandated by State Education Code

and/or SAUSD Board Policies. Disciplinary action by school administration could exclude a student from participating

in the commencement ceremony and senior activities even if all graduation requirements have been met.

Seniors are expected to know Saddleback High School Alma Mater, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the Star Spangled Banner for the commencement ceremony.

Caps and GownsIt is mandatory that each graduate wear a cap and gown during the commencement ceremony. Caps and gowns are your property and do not need to be returned to the school or to Jostens.

Jostens will distribute caps and gowns during lunch on May 24th, during lunch in the forum.

If you miss all of the Jostens school visits and need to make a last minute purchase, you can contact Jostens directly at (714) 751-0260

Jostens address is 2950 Airway Ave. Suite A3 Costa Mesa, CA 92626 Hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM

Commencement - Dress CodeLadies should wear a suit or dress and dress shoes. High heels and/or spiked heels are NOT allowed in order to prevent falling, injuries, or damage to the field. Men should wear dress pants/trousers/slacks, dress shoes, socks and a shirt with a collar and tie.

Leis are available for purchase for $25.00 in the Student Activities Office, and can be picked up at Commencement Practice, only to be worn AFTER the ceremony.

Students NOT dressed appropriately will not be allowed to participate in or attend the Commencement Ceremony.

Prohibited Items: Athletic shoes, flip-flops, high heels, bare feet Denim pants/jeans, shorts, t-shirts

The following are the ONLY awards allowed to be worn during commencement: CSF

o Students who earn four or more semesters of membership in CSF (with at least one semester during their senior year) qualify for Life Membership in CSF and are eligible to wear the CSF stole and pin during the Commencement Ceremony. They will also have the CSF Seal embossed on their diploma.

Any other medals received during senior/departmental awards may also be worn.

Do not bring anything with you to the ceremony. All graduating seniors will be checked for inappropriate items at the stadium entrance. If anything inappropriate is found, it will be confiscated, and you will lose the privilege of participating and attending the commencement ceremony. Inappropriate items include, but are not limited to:

speakers cellular phones cameras/video cameras purses make-up/cosmetics air horns, beach balls, balloons, confetti, noisemakers, etc. gum

Commencement - BehaviorSchool officials will remove any student or guest who distracts from the dignity of the ceremony. Any student under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.

Commencement - Guest RulesIn order to make this a pleasant event for all guests, please inform your friends and family that they are not to bring any outside food, noise makers, confetti or other disruptive party items to the commencement ceremony. In addition, signs and balloons are not allowed because they block the view for guests. Therefore, individuals who bring balloons or signs to the stadium will not be allowed to enter the stands with them.

Distribution of DiplomasTuesday, June 20Diplomas will be distributed on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM then from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM.Location: Building 700 (The Nest)Diplomas are issued to all graduating seniors who have:

completed all academic requirements been cleared by the Athletics Office (all uniforms turned in) been cleared by the Activities Office and turned in their Senior Clearance Cards

Disneyland Grad Night/Senior Breakfast at Rainforest Café (with Grad Night Package Only).Saturday, June 17, 2017

Disneyland Grad Night from 10:30 AM Saturday until 2:00 AM Sunday Tickets are $110 with ASB; $125 without ASB Last day to purchase tickets is April 21, 2017 ALL PURCHASES ARE FINAL – NO REFUNDS Arrive at Saddleback at 7:30 AM with school ID, to check-in. Bus assignments are given at the time of purchase. If you want to ride the same bus

with a friend(s), please plan on purchasing your tickets together. No bus transfers will be permitted. District bus transportation will take students to and from Grad Night. Personal

transportation is not allowed. Busses will begin loading at 8:00 AM.

No outside guests are allowed to attend. Students MUST bring their current school ID cards. Disneyland will close the park at 2:00 AM. Busses will leave Disneyland back to Saddleback at 2:15 AM. Parents must be available to pick up their student upon their return at approximately

3:00 AM. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WALK HOME.By going to Grad Night, students are agreeing to be picked up at Saddleback High School upon their return.

ALL Saddleback and SAUSD behavioral rules and expectations apply while at Disneyland.

Junior/Senior Prom. Underclassmen are allowed to attend if invited by a Junior or Senior Student must bring current school ID for check in purposes. Price with ASB $75; without ASB $85 until May 8th
