PROGRAMME
K.R. Mangalam University drives freedom of education and quest for knowledge across disciplines like Engineering, Law, Architecture, Management, Journalism, Fashion, Pharmacy, Hotel Management, Applied Sciences, Education and Humanities. We have driven innovation from the day one of our existence. We aim to create personalities who become legends in the choice of subjects they choose to specialize in. We are constantly chasing perfection, innovating new dimensions and creating different opportunities for the new generation.
Digital Humanities (DH) is an interdisciplinary field of study at the intersection of humanities, computational technologies. Digital methodologies are used to enhance and transform research in Arts and Social Sciences. Innovation, IT & Entrepreneurship combines a mix of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Material Sciences, Mathematics and Business Management.
In a short span of seven years of its existence, K.R. Mangalam University has successfully organized four international and one national conference. University Research Committee (URC) recommended creating a core group involving faculty members, research scholars and senior students who will establish the necessary conditions for cultivating a vibrant and flourishing research environment at KRMU. “NUCLEUS”, the university research group comprising of faculty and research scholars of KRMU, was formed to work together toward this goal. It provides a platform for sharing interdisciplinary research ideas for solving real-world problems as well as sharing knowledge related to research paper publications, sponsored research projects and patent filing.
Ph.D. programme
The Ph.D. programme is framed according to standards set by UGC (UGC Minimum standards and procedure for award & M.Phil./ Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2016 under the guidance of highly qualified and widely recognized faculty in their respective fields. This Ph.D. programme is for exceptionally gifted individuals who want to pursue an academic career and contribute to the society. KRMU offers Ph.D. Programme under the guidance of supervisor appointed by the University in following schools/disciplines/areas:
• School of Engineering and Technology- Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering
• School of Management & Commerce: Management and Commerce
• School of Basic and Applied Sciences: Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics
• School of Medical and Allied Sciences: Pharmaceutical Sciences
• School of Law: Law
• School of Humanities – English and Economics
• School of Journalism and Mass Communication- Journalism and Mass Communication
• School of Education- Education
The Ph. D Programme is designed to cater to the following categories of students:
Full Time Students: Candidates are required to devote full time on campus for Ph.D. Some candidates may be offered teaching/research/project assistantship. Those selected for this will be required to assist in teaching/laboratories and other developmental work under the guidance of mentor.
Part Time Students: Candidates working in organizations situated in close vicinity of University will be admitted under this category.
Sponsored Students: Employees of Organizations/Industries having collaborations with university will be admitted under this category.
Programme Structure:
The Ph.D. Programme is based on the research carried out by the student under the guidance of Supervisor/Cosupervisor ( s) and the programme duration is dependent upon the completion of the chosen research by the student. The research work is characterized either by discovery of new facts or proposition of a new theory/theories or by fresh interpretation of known facts. It should bear evidence of the candidate’s capacity for analysis and judgment as well as his/her ability to carry out independent investigation, design or development.
All admitted students are provisionally registered in to the Programme and are required to do a mandatory minimum course work of 12 credits. Upon successful completion of the course work, the student shall identify Supervisor /Cosupervisor(s) and in consultation prepare a detailed Research Proposal/Synopsis of the researches/he wants to carry out. After the approval of the Synopsis and Supervisor /Co-supervisor(s), students are formally registered in to Ph.D. Programme. This must normally be done within one year of admission.
After formal registration, student proceeds with research and is required to submit his/her progress report at the end of every semester and make a presentation to School Research Committee (SRC). The minimum period after which a student can submit the dissertation is three years from the date of admission and the maximum period allowed is 6 years. Women candidates and persons with more than 40% disability may be given a relaxation of 2 year as per UGC norms.
On completion of the research work, the student has to submit summary (synopsis) of the research work and make a presentation to SRC. Before submitting the dissertation, the student should publish at least one paper from the research work in refereed journals and two presentations in the conference. The dissertation must be a piece of original work free from any plagiarism, is subject to evaluation by two examiners and the supervisor(s). On having the Thesis assessment report and recommendations from all examiners, the scholar has to appear for the final viva voce for the award of the degree.
Eligibiliy Criteria:
The candidate should have postgraduate degree or its equivalent from a recognized University, in respective discipline, with minimum 55% marks or minimum CGPA of 5.5 on a 10 point scale.
Admission process:Candidates are required to download the Ph.D. admission form from the university website www.krmangalam.edu.in and submit it completely filled in all respects with copies of all the documents. Shortlisted candidates will be called for written examination and interview. They will be required to pay a Registration-cum-Processing fee of 5000/- (Non Refundable).
Admission to Ph. D. Programme will be based on the overall performance in Post Graduate degree, Entrance Examination, Personal Interview and facilities available. Preference will be given to CSIR/UGC NET qualified candidates and those having sponsored projects.
Written Entrance Examination: It will broadly test the research aptitude and ability to comprehend. Candidates with NET, SLET, GATE, MPAT, M Phil. or equivalent qualification may be exempted from Entrance Examination.
Personal Interview: Candidates who clear the written entrance examination will be selected for Personal interview. The interview will be conducted by the Interview Board of the University to comprehensively judge in depth knowledge in the concerned subject/area and ability to do research.
Admitted candidates will be required to pay the first installment of the Ph.D. programme fee and security deposit within the specified time to confirm the admission.
