ABOUT YOUR TRAINER
Rachel Moody Director of International Academic Partnerships
and International Academic Advising
Center for International Education and Global Strategy
University at Albany (State University of New York)
Rachel Moody has advised college and university students and has trained academic advisors for over 20 years. Prior to Ms. Moody’s current position as the Director for International Academic Partnerships and International Academic Advising at the University at Albany, she was the Assistant Director of the Academic Support Center where she provided new advisor training, chaired the
professional development committee, and facilitated numerous trainings for academic advisors. She has presented at the Global Community for Academic Advising (NACADA) regional and national conferences and she is often sought as a resource to mentor new advisors within and outside of her campus. In Ms. Moody’s current position, part of her role is to help prepare students in international dual degree programs to transition to the University at Albany. She meets with students in their home countries, facilitating group presentations and individual meetings; and she meets with their academic advisors to address their concerns. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Education Policy and Leadership where her research focuses on academic advising, student persistence, and retention. In 2016, she was one of the inaugural awardees of the UAlbany Provost’s Award for Excellence in Academic Advising. She also received the EAB Advising Excellence Award in 2017.

opportunities available to them in the USA

Support students through the college and university admissions, visa application, and enrollment process
Access and utilize academic advising resources, including the internationally developed academic advising core values and competencies set forth by the Global Community for Academic Advising (NACADA)
