CELEBRATING DAVID BOWIE
It would have been David Bowie’s 70th Birthday on 8th January. To celebrate his life, Gary Oldman led former band mates and other musicians on stage to perform a sell-out show at London’s Brixton Academy.Spandau Ballet's Tony Hadley, Def Leppard's Joe Elliott and La Roux were among the singers to perform on a string of Bowie hits at the Celebrating David Bowie concert. Proceeds from the concert went to the ‘Children & The Arts’ charity. Bowie’s legendary and unprecedented musical influence over artists, writers, musicians and fans worldwide is a legacy that will shine on in history. THE VELVET UNDERGROUND TURNS 50! Founding member of The Velvet Underground, John Cale has recently announced that a special show will take place in May this year to celebrate the revolutionary debut album ‘The Velvet Underground & Nico’. The album will be performed in its entirety at Liverpool Waters, Clarence Dock and will feature many special guests (tbc). There is no mistaking the striking and iconic Warhol artwork for this album. Bring forward the spring, 50 years of ‘that banana’ has never looked so cool!

U2 ANNOUNCE 2017 TOUR!
U2’s colossal album, ‘The Joshua Tree’ was released 30 years ago on 9th March 1987 and was described as ‘the Thriller of post-punk rock’. In 1999, The Joshua Tree was awarded the RIAA's highest certification, Diamond, with 10 million units sold. The album also peaked at No.1 on the UK, Canadian, West German, Dutch and Australian charts. In Switzerland, the album reached No.1 on the charts and stayed there for a total of 33 weeks. Last week, U2 announced their 25-date stadium world tour in honor of its fifth album. The shows will kick off in Vancouver in May and will end in August in Brussels. 2017 will bring the rocking world back to 87 in the most glorious fashion – it will undoubtedly be one of the biggest events of the year.

BLOODY HELL, IT’S SLAYER! For decades, Slayer’s music has encapsulated violence, blood and menace. Now we’ll be able to see it in print as the band have recently announced the release of their debut comic ‘Slayer: Relentless’ later this month. The story starts with the eyepatch wearing convict that appears in their recent music videos.

AIRBOURNE TAKE OFF TO THEIR WORLD TOUR! Airbourne. This generation’s answer to AC/DC. Pure rock n roll, raw talent, exciting and downright crowd pleasing! Their recent album ‘Breakin’ Outta Hell’ has received rave reviews and is continuing to climb the charts. Airbourne are also touring big this year – from Australia in Jan to Europe in July. NYC FASHION WEEK SS17 NYC Fashion week was dominated by a more understated look for this season with the use of the staple t-shirt. Teaming up with designer skirts, denim or even dresses, the key look was rock n roll and t-shirts were seen everywhere. Layering up with long sleeves & cropped jeans were also a nod to the naughties. 2017? So new, so retro!
