Music Therapy Music Therapy is an established healthcare profession that uses music to address physical, emotional,

cognitive, and social needs of individuals of all ages. Music Therapy can improve the quality of life for individuals who are well and also meets the needs for persons of children and adults with various disabilities or illnesses.

Music therapy interventions can be designed to: promote wellness, manage stress, alleviate pain, express feelings, enhance memory, improve communication, and promote physical rehabilitation. Music activities such as singing/vocalizing, movement, and instrument play are designed to be success oriented and enjoyable.

Music Therapy services at First Baptist are provided by a Board Certified Music Therapist, who has completed an undergraduate degree in Music Therapy at an accredited university. Upon registration for these services an individual assessment with the music therapist will be scheduled at a time agreed upon by the therapist and the caregiver. During this time specific questions will be asked and the client will be asked to perform specific tasks so that individual needs and goals can be established.
