Ten Days Research Methodology Course for M.Phil./Ph.D./PDF Scholars in Social Sciences

Department of Management, BITS PILANI, in

collaboration with the Indian Council of Social

Science Research, New Delhi is going to

organize a “Ten Days Research Methodology

Course for M.Phil./Ph.D./PDF Scholars in

Social Sciences” from 17th February to 26th

February, 2020. The course will give exposure

to M.Phil./Ph.D./PDF Scholars about various

stages of research from identification of

research problem, literature review, statistical

software, journal identification (indexing and

ranking), thesis writing and manuscript

submission. The workshop predominantly

follows the Research Methodology Syllabus

designed by the ICSSR New Delhi.

The Objective of the Course:

To provide the necessary expertise, so

that research scholar(s) can formulate a

suitable research design, including

literature review, gaps identification,

defining research objectives, questions

and hypothesis.

To improve the concepts and writing good

research proposals, incorporation of

qualitative and quantitative research

methods.

Exposure to statistical softwares used for

research.

Identification of appropriate journals,

knowledge about databases and indexing

of journals, handling rejection, revision

and editorial comments of manuscript,

citation formats.

About the Institute

Eligibility of the Participants:

M.Phil./Ph.D./PDF Scholars in any branch of

Social Sciences are eligible to apply on the

prescribed format. Selected candidates would

be informed by 3rd February, 2020 by e-mail.

How to apply:

Candidates are required to send the filled

registration form duly forwarded by the

supervisor and Head of the Department

/Institution with following enclosures by post as

well as email to course director:

i. Filled application form

ii. Brief CV of the applicant

iii. PhD registration/supported documents

iv. Attested copy of the SC/ST/OBC

Certificates.

v. A brief note about his/her thesis and its

progress;

vi. A brief write-up about the reasons for

his/her participation in the workshop

(maximum 500 words).

vii. Duly attested photographs.

Incomplete applications forms are liable to be

rejected. The number of intake is limited to 30.

Registration Fee:

Registration fee for the participants is Nil.

Accommodation & Travel Allowance:

Accommodation will be provided to the

outstation participants. Travel allowance by

shortest Distance bus or train (sleeper class)

will be reimbursed to the outstation participants

as per ICSSR guidelines.
