All About Angels

WelcomeIt is my intention to share some information about the angelic realm for those who are interested in learning more. With greater understanding of how to connect more fully with the angels, it is my hope that you are empowered to explore your unique relationship with these loving messengers of the Divine. On my own journey, I have been shown in many ways how the angels desire a loving partnership with humanity. As I have personally experienced the exquisite peace and love through such angelic partnership, I am committed to sharing whatever I have learned with others so that lives are enriched, peace is experienced, and humanity is blessed. There are many resources to learn more about this topic. I encourage you to explore the books, workshops, and meditation CDs that are interesting to you, as well as engage in direct communication with the angels. The information I share has been gathered from my own research, received directly from the angelic realm in my work as an Angel Therapy Practitioner®, and is offered in my workshops.

When you review any information, regardless of the source, I encourage you to practice the art of discernment to determine if this information is empowering, helpful, and offered with love. Allowing your heart or your Higher Self to guide this discernment process will help you discard information that does not feel right to you at this time. It is also important to remember that as humans, we rely upon words and context to make sense of our internal and external experience. Language and context are essential to the human experience, but should be used in the most flexible manner. If there are words or concepts that feel uncomfortable to you, I encourage you to find the descriptor that would allow you greater comfort and choose this for yourself. In the same vein, if you come upon ideas or information that do not resonate with you, leave them for another to enjoy. Just as there are many different paths to spiritual and personal growth, so there are many different ways to communicate about the journey.

Who are the angels?In many spiritual traditions, angels are described as messengers of Divine, as emanations of love, and as helpers for humanity. The word “angel” means “messenger from God.” As aspects of the One, angels are composed of Divine love, light, and intelligence. They have been described as

thought forms of love sent forth from the heart of the Divine to assist humanity. Consistently, the angels have communicated that in their loving service to humanity, they are joyfully serving the Divine and thus moving further along their own path of spiritual evolution. This is shared to encourage us to make use of their presence, as well as to help us understand that all beings, even angels, continue to evolve

Many are familiar with the various types of angels spoken about in sacred texts and everyday conversation. There are Archangels, Archeia, Guardian angels, Cherubim, Seraphim, nature angels, and legions of guiding angels offering help in any area imaginable. The angels are nondenominational light beings who help anyone regardless of religious belief. At your local bookstores and online, there are numerous resources which describe the characteristics and specific roles of these various angels. The focus upon a unique aspect of the angelic realm, such as a single archangel, is helpful for our human understanding as we make sense of our world with words and context. It is easier to form a relationship, ask for help, or enter into conversation with an individual angel. Just as we are unique aspects of the Divine, so are the angels. However, while it is useful to know the names, characteristics, and roles of the various groups and individual angels, it is important not to lose focus upon the interconnectedness of all Life. The angels are aspects of the One - aspects of the Divine, as are we. The angels may just as easily present themselves as individuals as they may come forth as a collective. They operate within their full knowing of themselves as Divine energy.

How do I begin connecting with the angelic realm?Ask for their help. Surrender the request. Remain open to receive the response - however it may appear in your life. It is truly that simple.

Begin with asking. Send an invitation to the angelic realm to partner with you. As angels receive our communications via vibration, it does not matter whether your request is spoken aloud, offered in a specific language, asked silently, written down, visualized, or in the form of a yearning. Choose the way that feels most comfortable for you. Reflect on your requests so that you are offering them with the greatest clarity as possible. Then, release the request without worry about it being received and understood. The angels work in conjunction with your Higher Self so they are able to discern your heart’s desires. It is also important to realize that you do not need to be an expert in the roles and specialties of the various angels. Just ask and trust that the most appropriate help is immediately available.

The angels will always respond to requests for help. Your awareness of this help is dependent upon many factors, including the ability to recognize the response in whatever form it appears, the ability to allow in the help, whether the request is for your highest good at that time, and the Divine plan for all involved. Paying attention, being open, and releasing expectation about how/who/when help shows up supports your ability to consciously receive angelic assistance. It is important to pay attention to how you receive Divine guidance. As you learn more about the possible ways information is shared, it becomes easier to discern your unique ability.

Create harmonious space for your relationship with the angels by clearing out that which no longer serves you - within yourself and in your environment. As your inner and outer space becomes more harmonious, it becomes easier to receive Divine guidance. Know this - you cannot do it wrong. This partnership is an opportunity for Divine love, light, intelligence to connect through the angelic realm to humanity and return again to the One. This path is clear. So relax, get out of your own way, and let it remain a simple, natural process. Remember that it is not about knowledge or procedure, rather it is about a heartfelt desire to receive the gifts of the Divine.

What are the common concerns people express about working with angels?It is important to recognize that many people share doubts, fears, or concerns about their ability to communicate with angels. Often these are a product of the culture in which one was raised. In general, Western culture has not embraced the presence of the intuitive ability for all people as a natural way of life. Thus, many adults have reported shutting down their natural, intuitive abilities as children when these abilities were not understood, supported, cultivated and often denied or rejected. As Western culture has gradually become more open to more holistic views of mind-body medicine, various spiritual practices, and the intuitive process, it has become easier for adults and children to explore this natural sixth sense or intuitive capability.

Many express doubt, fear, or feelings of inadequacy with regard to exploring this intuitive ability. Others have been taught that connecting with the angels or other realms is dangerous or a sin against God. Recognize that many people share these concerns. They are often a natural byproduct of our life experience and are not to be judged harshly. If these exist for you, be gentle with yourself and release the fears and concerns to your Divine Source and the angels if you choose. The angels are aware of your concerns. They will help you overcome your doubts and fears in ways that are comfortable for you. Begin to explore how to utilize your intuition in a way

feels comfortable and safe. As you gain more knowledge and experience of the loving, empowering means of connect with the Divine, these concerns will dissipate.

Is it really possible for everyone to communicate with angels?Absolutely. Everyone was born with the natural, innate intuitive ability to communicate with the higher realms. Children know and trust this. Many people share stories of their children speaking to angels or deceased loved ones, seeing “imaginary” friends, or offering someone comfort at the perfect time. As with any skill to be learned (or remembered), being open to the idea of this possibility, becoming aware and paying attention to your experiences, and practicing techniques to connect with angels allows the intuitive channels to open further. By adopting the open-minded, trustful nature of a child, one can begin by imagining that they are clearly receiving information from the angels. The experience of opening the communicative channels is more of a playful process than hard work. At the workshops I offer, I guide participants through the information and practice exercises to help them realize the intuitive skills that are already present. Without exception, information is received through each participant’s unique filters. Such confirmation encourages individuals to explore more and practice the various techniques that allow their innate skills to flourish.

What are the common ways in which people receive information?It is important to recognize the many ways that one may communicate with angels or receive Divine guidance in order to identify how this works for you. With practice, you will get to know your personal “angelic calling cards.” It is important to avoid any sense of competition with another as this interrupts the purpose of experiencing greater peace and the benefits of Divine guidance. Using discernment is also important to differentiate between angelic communication and that of one’s ego. True angelic experiences feel warm, safe, loving, and comfortable. They are always empowering, even when delivered in a straight forward manner. If there is a critical message or something that feels disempowering, it is likely that the internal critical voice of the ego is being expressed.

The four primary means are described briefly and more detailed information may be found in books, through experiential workshops, and via personal practice. The actual experience of how one receives information may sometimes be difficult to describe using our limited five sensory terms. These descriptions are to inform and empower you, but not limit the means in which Divine guidance may be received or sent.

Clairvoyance or clear seeing includes seeing images or light beings externally or in the mind’s eye. Clairvoyance may also include seeing flashes of light, shapes in clouds, colors, number sequences, visions or dreams, messages in print, and symbols that are meaningful. Clairaudience, or clear hearing, allows one to hear externally or within the voices, statements, music, your name called aloud, a high pitched ringing in the ear, or other meaningful messages of the Divine. Other examples of clairaudience include hearing the song on the radio, a stranger’s comment, or a sound in nature that provides an answer to one’s question. Claircognizance, or clear knowing, occurs when one knows information without having been told, has an internal knowing of how to proceed, or receives messages in the form of thoughts or ideas. Clairsentience, or clear feeling, may be experienced by feeling temperature changes in the air/body, goose bumps, an intuitive hunch or gut feeling, energy moving through the or around the body, positive emotional states, or the sensation of a hug. There are also other sensory experiences involving the sense of smell or taste.

I have a lot of questions and requests. How much should I share with the angels?Remember that the angels are in loving, joyful service to humanity as their spiritual purpose. Angels and God welcome you to express every question, thought, and feeling to them. The Divine responds to anything and everything without exception. As angels are multidimensional beings of light and energy, they are not governed by the physical laws of earth. They have no time or space limitations so that they may be with everyone, everywhere, at any time. Thus, you do not limit another person’s access by asking an angel to stay with you permanently or by calling upon large numbers of angels to be with you. No request is too large or small, nor is one request deemed above another. The clearer the heart’s desire for assistance, the stronger the request. It is not possible to bother the angels by requesting too much of their assistance or attention.

As humans have free will, the angels will not interfere with your life unless you request their help or a life threatening situation occurs where they choose to reveal their presence. As they work with an expansive understanding of the interconnected purpose of all life, the angels respond to us with the knowledge of our soul’s purpose. There is no concern, therefore, of sending angels to help others with the request that this help be for their highest and best good. The angels and another’s Higher Self understand the higher purpose of every situation and their help complements this purpose.

As the angels invite you to create your personal partnership with them, feel free to communicate, request, or pray with them in any manner that feels comfortable to you. Trust the guidance of your heart as to what to share and in what manner. Do not hold back due to concern about “doing it correctly” as there is no “correct” manner for your personal and unique connection with the Divine. A consistent message offered by the angels to us is their encouragement for us to ask and share more with them. They have limitless love and an unbounded desire to be of assistance to us and wish only to have the opportunity to express this through service to us.

Is working with the angels practical? Does it help with everyday life?This is one of my favorite questions I ever received. When asked this, I shared how my introduction to the angelic realm helped me experience greater peace, love, and joy in my life, my self-view, and my understanding of others. I was quickly interrupted and asked, “Yeah, but is it practical?” Laughing, I replied, “I always get parking spaces and the angels help me shop.” Remember that there is no limit to your requests.  Feel free to ask for healing, guidance, and support in areas of health, relationships, finances, career, spirituality, family, education, recreation, environment, and everyday activities - for yourself, another, all of humanity, or the planet.  From the help offered for the practical, mundane everyday tasks to specific help in a wide variety of life’s challenging situations, the consistent report I receive from others highlights the benefit of inviting angelic assistance into one’s life. Thus, I would offer that working with the angels is profoundly practical.

Is my deceased loved one an angel?In our culture, people often refer to a deceased loved one, such as a grandmother, as their “guardian angel.” While it is important to remember that all are part of the One, we do differentiate between light beings given their vibrational level and role. The angels are different from what is known as a spirit guide. A spirit guide may be someone known to you from your family tree or not. However, if it was a family relation, they have been in this role (“in spirit”) from the time you are born until you make your transition and have not shared time with you in human form during your life. These spirit guides are always with you, provide loving advice, and respect your free will. These are characteristics they share with your guardian angels. Deceased loved ones may also provide you with support and guidance from time to time, although not in the same way as your spirit guide who has prepared for this role. The recently deceased may offer guidance that is influenced by an ego perspective and their personality. This may have a

different feel than the loving, empowering guidance of your assigned spirit guide. As with all messages from the higher realms, it is important to use discernment to determine if such messages are helpful. Even given the differentiation between angels, spirit guides, and deceased loved ones, it is important to recognize that many feel great comfort, joy, and peace to know their loved ones are with them. This is tremendously healing for the grief of loss of a loved one. So, if someone refers to their grandmother as their guardian angel, I accept this as a common cultural use of the term “guardian angel,” as well as an honoring of the loving support they receive from the presence of their grandmother.
