As with the other IMI’s, the campus at
Bhubaneswar offers the latest
facilities and amenities to its students.
The design is climate responsive and
uses locally available materials, like
laterite blocks. A sculptured wall in
the facade, with replicas from Orissan

To create a varied screen we have
broken the glass facade with light
boards and eboards. This facade
serves to shield the building from the
sun, as well as plays with light and
shade to create an interesting interior,
as well as breaks the monotony of the
glass facade, creating a warm,
homely and interesting exterior. All
the rooms open onto the lawn,
ensuring adequate daylight and
exposure to nature, though the solar
influx does not heat them up
inordinately.
A rooftop garden serves to both
enhance the visual appeal of the hotel

This Pavilion built for a local socio-
religious festival in a small town on the
fringes of Kolkata. It was a temporary
structure to shelter an idol which was the
focus of this festival. Set amidst a
carnival atmosphere, the constant flux of
people was a factor considered while
conceptualizing its design. A notion of
continuous movement was its guiding
principle. Another factor to consider was
the reusability of the employed materials
after the event. Economizing was
important, especially because of the
constrained budget. This being a
community project, involvement of the
club members provided enthusiastic
manpower.
The installation was conceived using
locally available bamboo, painted in
rainbow colors to reflect the colour and
vibrancy of the culture while reflective
stickers combined with strategic lighting
highlighted the same in the night as well.

The concept of fragmental geometry
has been used in the reception and
lobby area, whereas the rest of the
office is straight lines and linear
spaces. Perforated screens have
been used as partitions in the
workspace area. Graphics on the wall
add to the ambience of the cafeteria
and conference rooms. The
predominantly white office is
complimented by glass partitions in
different colours.

The South City clubhouse is one of
our more prestigious projects, and is
situated within the south city
apartment complex. The clubhouse
scales geometrically from a large
linear entrance lobby to more fluid,
smaller, and encapsulated areas like
the bar, the children’s play area, and
the lounge. Extensive use of non-
linear forms, multiple levels and bright
colours inside the clubhouse ensure a
vivid contrast and an entertaining
experience for the visitors.
